It is a preference thing and if you don't like the shows I like no hard feelings.
Psych (My favorite show in the last decade. Netflix has the first five seasons. Quirky and hilarious my wife watches this one with me and laughs at most of the jokes. If you haven't seen any of them, don't start with the first episode. The best episode (for me) is the first one in the second season entitled "American Duos." Making fun of American Idol and Tim Curry as a guest star-this one is a hoot.
Burn Notice (I think the first 4 seasons are on Netflix) I also can recommend this one because my wife enjoys it almost as much as I do.
Breaking Bad
How I Met Your Mother- looking at your list you might not like this one. The humor is a bit of everything. But Neil Patrick Harris really makes this show shine.
Malcolm in the Middle- (maybe a little juvenile for a husband / wife) -The characters really pull this show together and make the crazy situations like art.
Monk- My wife won't watch them again because she remembers the twists, but I've watched most of them a second time because I forget.
These are most of the shows we have enjoyed over the years. It's nice being able to watch one show right after the other without commercials. There have been a lot of misses with the shows lately but I can always fall back on these.

I'll second 'Burn Notice'. I dig it lots, but my wife doesn't. We both like 'How I Met Your Mother', and I agree NPH makes the show, though the rest of the cast is strong.
If you like 'Heroes' and 'Lost' and are both into Sci-Fi I can't suggest 'Battlestar Galactica' and 'Firefly' enough.

Re: Looking for new show suggestions on Netflix
I'll give you a good one that most people haven't seen:
Carnivale
It's an HBO show from around 2005 that ran for 2 seasons. Very good production values, and I really enjoyed the general feel of it. Another plus is if the first episode doesn't suck you in for some reason, then you can stop watching. :)
We also love Game of Thrones, also an HBO show.

have you watched Firefly?
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

For DRAMA:
If you like White Collar, try Suits (in Season 2).
We also like Burn Notice, Covert Affairs (in Season 3, I believe), Necessary Roughness (in Season 2) --- all on USA Network. I really enjoy Necessary Roughness, but my husband does not love it, but will watch it with me.
Have you seen Magic City on HBO? Or Mad Men?
If you want a show that is not for the try "Shameless" with William H. Macy - he really is excellent in it. But it deals with a family living in the South Side of Chicago who has little money and the father (Macy) has alcohol issues. Lots of drug issues and sex and general bad behavior, but it really is a good show. Two seasons have aired so far.
Sitcoms:
Modern Family
How I Met Your Mother
Two and a Half Men

What about Person Of Interest? It has Jim Caviezel and Lost Alumn Michael Emerson.
From Wikipedia
"Person of Interest is an American television crime drama broadcasting on CBS. It is based on a screenplay developed by J. J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan.[1] The series revolves around a former CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) recruited by a mysterious billionaire (Michael Emerson) to prevent violent crimes in New York City."

Re: Looking for new show suggestions on Netflix
^ That actually sounds very similar to Millenium. Lance Henriksen > Jim Caviezel
Which also reminds me, The X-Files is on Netflix streaming, too - another suggestion.

Person of Interest is a very good show, we don't watch it consistently but do enjoy it.
Re: Looking for new show suggestions on Netflix
For comedy I suggest Faulty Towers, Black Books, IT crowd and Hyperdrive (actually Black Books is no longer on Netflix... full episodes can be found on youtube though)

We really enjoyed Monk, also. Foyle's War is really good. It's about a British detective during WWII. The stories and characters are great. The show doesn't focus on WWII, but it draws in some very interesting things related to the war.
We liked Parks & Rec, but it's not everybody's cup of tea.

Re: Looking for new show suggestions on Netflix
Recently I've enjoyed Dark Matter (sci-fi.. very inspired by shows like Firefly but I enjoyed it), Longmire, Narco's, Peaky Blinders, and Luthor

How has no one said Daredevil?
Re: Looking for new show suggestions on Netflix
Good point. I watched the first season in less than a week it was so great. This thread is a little old also or others probably would have listed it. I also just finished season 1 of flash last week. I really liked it.Slickson wrote:How has no one said Daredevil?

Jessica Jones!
Re: Looking for new show suggestions on Netflix
I tried to save it for Christmas break and just couldn't stop watching it. Loved it! Can't wait for season 2. Can't decide which I like better Daredevil or Jessica Jones. Maybe Jessica Jones? But its been some time since I've watching Daredevil.vynsane wrote:Jessica Jones!
