Current In-store availability of Power Miners?

Post by melsig » Wed Jun 29, 2011 1:08 pm

Inevitably, now that the series is discontinued, my son is going nuts for Power Miners.

I managed to find Lavatraz, Magma Mech and Rock Wrecker at our local TRU, but I'm wondering where else the odd set might still be on shelves? Can anyone tell me if they've seen them recently anywhere in-store?

Thanks so much!

Oh, I found Claw Catcher, too. I'm looking for anything else. Thanks, again!

as a Power Miners fan I can tell you they are not many left out in the wild.

There is a chance LEGO could have some in a warehouse, or a store, it might be beneficial to call them and see if they can find any.

Nuts, I was afraid of that. I called my local Lego store and the guy said he thought my chances of finding any more were "slim to none".

Thanks!

If you can find your item on target.com, the product page will have a little button you can hit to query nearby stores for availability. You may not be able to find even the product page though.

I also had an experience where I paid a bit of a premium for a retired 2009 Pirates set, only to find entertainmentearth.com had the set for a lower price. Check that website too...

Beyond that, try out ebay if you/he really wants it.

Good luck!

Edit: Check out this link to entertainment earth. They have some sets: http://www.entertainmentearth.com/hitli ... p=&x=0&y=0

Thanks! I checked entertainmentearth.com, but those sets were the ones I found at TRU. I guess these sets must be the last ones on the market...

That's good to know - thank you. All of our local Borders have closed, but my parents live near one that's still open. Maybe I'll ask them to check it out, bearing in mind your caveat re pricing...

Yeah Amazon has a whole grip of power miners, and not all of the prices are crazy high:

Weirdly, while we have a Target Superstore near us (and they don't have any Power Miners in stock - I checked), there's no Walmart. I think this is the first place I've lived where they aren't practically side-by-side.

Amazon prices are okay. Somehow my son always seems to zero in on the sets that are more expensive on the secondary market, though.

I think someone has used sets for sale in the buy/sell/trade forum.

Hi gabriellee11 - No, you're right - there was one. I found the listing before dinnertime, debated it (it wasn't one of the ones my son was saying he HAD TO HAVE, if you know what I mean), then bought it after dinner. I didn't realize it was the last one in inventory - I hope they really do still have one in stock. I guess I just have to wait for the ship notice. Thanks!

Hi atmail35, I'm too new to qualify for the forums yet (although I must be getting pretty close). Thanks!

The titanium Command rig is a great set, I think he will like it once he gets it.

Thanks for the info. Titanium Command Rig looks like something he'll really get into once he opens it up. It's so hard to tell sometimes. If only I had a device that could tell me "your son will be interested in XYZ by 2012"... I think the set also comes with a Glaciator, so I'm still sitting around contemplating the watch...
