What's going on with the Space man? I believe your dates might be off.

The spaceman was added to my order today, along with the Chima bike.

It lists as "D2C Minifigure Retro Set 2014" for the spaceman.

Edit: I see what you mean now, the first post says "Augutst 1st - 14th" when it should be "September 1st - 14th".

After realizing that I miss the opportunity to order the Haunted House (10228) via Target and the fact that it's almost sold out at a decent price every where else .
I jump into the "wait list" at the Shop, which gave me the 2 promos. (Chima/ Spaceman)

Now I also did the same for the Grand Emporium (about a week ago) and I already received the Mini Cooper Poly.
Questions for those with more experience.
How good is Lego fulfilling these "backorders"?
Since my experience with other retailers has been more strikes than hits.
In the event that they can't fulfill my orders.
Do I keep the promos for free or they charge me shipping? (kind of backwards)

I've only ordered one item on a 'wait list' - that being the Maersk triple E. (Also ordered pick a brick in the same order.) Promotional items showed up first in a package by themselves, then the pick a brick, and the ship by itself a few days before the 'expected ship date.'

regular priced item TLG has fulfilled 100% @ least in my case. they might cancel the order at some point if they can't make the delivery.

on-sale item its a luck of the draw. no one knows how its distributed.

for the same order, TLG don't charge if they ship in multiple batches. and/or if they don't fulfill the order they haven't charged for the promotional item and/or shipping of the promotional item

Where are you getting that information? I don't see anything about that anywhere.

I'm so glad you brought this up because I was going to pull the trigger on the Haunted House set next month with the double VIP point promotion but decided to do it now in case it's completely gone by then. Phew!

Yeap, I was thinking the same, but the set is becoming extinct really fast. I know it will become a classic, hard to find and expensive set.
I couldn't risk it. I procrastinated enough. I missed many sales on this set before, not this time. The promo was just a plus. I have high hope of getting it.

Also with the new minifigure spooky girl, her companion spooky boy will not be far behind and the House will become even more sought after.

My experience with LEGO backorders is that they always fulfill them. Every set I've backordered they came through with.

I think that $99 spaceman set will be a good investment. Seems like that thing could rise in value the next few years, especially since it's not just a polybag but a boxed figure.

About 2 days ago I got my Classic Spaceman Minifigure and my Worriz' Fire Bike.
The spaceman box is very nice! It has classic set written all over.
This one is sure to become a highly sought out minifigure just because of the design of the box and the content.

I also got my shipping notice for the Haunted House today so it should be arriving by next week.
I went to the site and the shipping date has been moved to October now.
That probably means they went through the first wave of backorders and still did not had enough to put it back on the site as "in stock".

I will not hesitate to get on the backorder list now because it's going fast....

I too just got the notice my Haunted House shipped out today, and I received the free with purchase items in the mail yesterday on their own.

It is too bad the set won't make it to Halloween, it would be a perfect sendoff for the Haunted House.

What was the target price? I've wanted to pick it up as well. Has it been discontinued?

MSRP is $180. It's been discontinued for awhile, but the stockpiles have now been running low.

I love it, but I can't spend that much on it.

HH is presently "Out of stock, expected ship date 4 Oct"... I'm hoping it will last until 2xVIP points next month and I will try to convince my wife to let me bite the bullet. If I miss out, I miss out. I love it, but don't NEED it... Meanwhile, I have to get an order in this month to get the Spaceman.

I spoke with someone at Lego Shop at Home today who told me they thought the HH would have plenty of stock to make it through the end of the year... i guess that is only if everyone doesn't panic and start buying stock that Lego doesn't have in hand right now!

HH also doesn't have a "Retiring Soon" tag online--I know sometimes sets slip through the cracks and don't get the appropriate tags tied to them at S@H but it seems like they would do more to notify the Lego community about the end of life of a set that was this popular if it was on a final run...

Take that for what is worth, but based on what I was told over the phone, people waiting for a better promotion or just placing an order later this year should (hopefully) be fine...

^ Good points, particularly about the 'Retiring Soon' tag.
