Super Star Destroyer 10221

Post by Legoluke06 » Tue May 06, 2014 12:06 pm

Hey Folks,

Just got off the phone with every Lego store in the USA and they are sold out of the 10221 and the set has been removed from their pick lists. Also earlier today the Lego Site had the set as Retired, however later in the day it was back to temporarily unavailable.

If you can find it for under $500 id snatch it up. These prices will begin to rise dramatically as people realize they are no longer making them.

I bought what I think is the absolute last one available in the USA today. Toysrus has them for $539 as well as FAO for $539. Even Target raised the price to $429 a few days ago only to be sold out later in the day.

In any event.... good luck

Wow, that must have been quite a day for you. I remember purchasing that set for my son for Xmas and he returned it to the lego store and bought the full ninjago series that was out at the time. I used to cringe thinking where the heck you store something so big.

Haha... it was. I found 4 that were available in the USA at LEGO. 2 Alabama, 2 Chicago Area. Both places had 2 left, and they weren't selling them over the phone. Had my wife call (she has a way) and sure enough they had 1 left that the 24 hold expired and they shipped it out the same day.

Got it today btw. Will be stashing that away. Wait till the new movie comes out. These things will be around $1200 easy.

Hopefully Lego will have Extra's when they Fill they Orders this Month, But it looks like many people will miss the boat on this one. On these Exclusives you can't wait to the last minute.

My friends and I actually called EVERY LEGO store in the US today (all 68) and also two stores in Canada (one of my friends lives close to Canada and was willing to drive up there to get an SSD.

Anyway- I can verify that nobody has any SSDs left. The ones we could find we bought. There were only a a little more than a dozen left in the country. We all got one to build - and then a couple to hold on to.

Several of the LEGO store employees told me that they received very limited shipments on May 3rd but nothing since then. They also noted that LEGO had not informed then of any future deliveries. Several employees told me this has every indication of a formal retirement announcement. Two employees were actually more direct and said "it's retired. We are never getting new shipments"

So there you have it- every LEGO store from Hawaii to Massachusetts and the SSDs all gone.

I find it funny that barely anyone gave a crap about this set until it was cleared out.

Just to let people know. It is available on Lego.com. Probably very limited stock available. Order while you can if you want it.

Thanks for that update. Your right. I'll still pass, you have to be a die hard fan, too big and my kids have no interest. Hopefully someone sees your post and buys one if they were waiting.

Legoland Discovery Center DFW had some SSD's in today. I don't know how long they will last but it looks like all the Legoland's may be getting them in. As always YMMV. I suggest calling first before making a trip.
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

Where did you find those!? lol. I'm in Canada and that's one of my dream sets but they're just so expensive now.

Sounds like a LEGOLAND purchase.
You get 10% with annual pass and it happens that $399 -10% = $360.

Maybe?....

It was at discovery center. I have total of 4, all for resale, I realize with the size of those, I got myself a problem with safe shipping now. Anyway, I hope they skyrocket in price for x-mas.

one of the reasons why i didn't pick one up. that size, and for being in canada, shipping would be worse, not to mention I would pay more for it over US price.

That's super pricey. I'm not crazy about this set, because it''s so long! I bought this for my husband in Dec 2012 for just under $274 when Target had a one day sale. He barely put any of the set together so I built half of it two years ago. Since he obviously isn't going to assemble it I'll finish it this week. Displaying this one will be a problem. Had I known the huge after market markup I would have gotten two!

I've got two of these I'm sitting on for eventual resale. I got one @ $336 and the other @ $240. Of course in retrospect, I wish I had picked up a couple more or so but I they probably wouldn't have been for as cheap.
