That it is Legobrandon.. I just bought one! price was bang on to what they said.. I couldn't pass it up, its 45% off! Very rarely do you see a deal like that... I still don't know how they ship it here for like $15! This is my first Lego train set.. Anybody have any suggestions on what other sets I should get to combine with this one? Tracks, other trains?

It is too bad the Emerald Night is discontinued. But get the Maersk. I have that and the EN. Both of them are beautiful trains. I certainly would not mind getting a second Maersk.Jasper Parnebrick wrote:That it is Legobrandon.. I just bought one! price was bang on to what they said.. I couldn't pass it up, its 45% off! Thanks! Ok, so I am a train Newbie, but are the 9V and PF compatible? The Maersk looks beautiful! Ever any deals on it, or is it only ever available from Lego?Legobrandon wrote:It is too bad the Emerald Night is discontinued. But get the Maersk. I have that and the EN. Got the Red cargo last week at TRU too... But I might get this one as well. Do you risk paying duty and taxes on these when ordered from Amazon.Fr ?
Thanks for the info,
Jerome

There will most likely be customs fees ($8.50) and duty (your provinces tax rate). So I would calculate that into the price. However, I believe it should still be worth it!
One note of caution - the box will not be in the best condition when it arrives!

I have ordered from Amazon Italy and France and have had to pay duty both times. It's Irritating, but it is less then the regular taxes. This set will cost $271.19 after tax (in Ontario) if you were to pay full price. You will still save $120-130!ti_jay007 wrote:Got the Red cargo last week at TRU too... I really need to get the Maersk. I kept saying that about the Emerald Night, but I kept waiting for a better price. Then it was discontinued and immediately shot up in price.

Ok, both 9v and PF trains are compatible on any type of track whether it be 9v or RC. BUT, 9v trains will only run automatically on 9v track with the metal coatings on them. Or else the electric current will not flow through. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. Oh and the Maersk train is on TRU.com too and they periodically have BOGO sales so you can pick up two of them or something.Jasper Parnebrick wrote:Thanks! yes, a long time ago...hobby train was the last 9v train released in 2007! That year was also last to buy the 9v tracks and regulator in retail. There is no 9v engine in hobby train so you can put rc or pf engine. Same goes with most 9v trains released without tracks and regulator ie holiday train, bnsf, etc.
