Most cashiers were on to this coupon, but the customer service people were clueless. Those that have used this coupon, consider yourselves lucky. B&N corporate HQ might lock down on this one soon.
My jaw dropped at all of the Lego they had piled up all over the place - including 10 NXT sets!!
Which store did you go to? I was at 3rd and 54th (Citigroup Center) and nobody questioned it.
I went yesterday and bought items and the discount does stack. It depends on the person you deal with I suppose. I have had similar issues where in some cases they will stack and in others they wont.

Same here, gift department only, however she was nice enough to scan a 25% off coupon for me. Better than nothing.

Keep trying... First store I went to did it just fine... The second wasn't.... Had a manager come out and was denied... Won't be going back to that store.... I did take pictures of their inventory.... Lots of castle stuff I'll be picking up next week (if the price is right)

Epic fail during round two. Had queen anne..girl scanned item..then scanned coup. It didn't take so she read coup and told me it was for gift section items. She was nice tho. Last time I got it they punched in items on screen before scanning coup. Ah well. I went to gift section and only lego items were lego harry potterbook and 1 lego set of harry potter ..double decker bus one. Bleh..

There has to be a new coupon out for 40% off education toys. Maybe after Christmas it will surface.

Still works for me - went to a different B&N and picked up the 7931 T-6 Jedi Shuttle (honestly, that thing is so unattractive I could only bring myself to buy it at a deep discount) for around $24.

It must be who you deal with. I went in by myself and bought a duplo zoo with the coupon, no problems at all. Sent my wife back in for something else and they denied it. Apparently she doesn't share my mind control abilities.
Good luck to everyone, its worth trying. I know I am going to try the other B&N in my area.

Shoulda took it to the dvd section and see if they could ring it up right. Or when taking back the queen anne I shoulda placed it in the gift section in their gift shelf deal with the other harry potter legos hah.

So, I think they finally changed it in the system because the last 2 days, scanning the coupon didn't raise any red flags. But it did today - it seemed to stop the transaction. Though the cashier said she wasn't technically allowed to, she still gave me the 40% discount.

Figured I'd give it one more try before I left town for the holidays, picked up an ARC-170 Starfighter (8088), at $38.00 (tax included), saved $27.00 (retail $65.00 w/tax).
If only I could find a Barnes & Noble w/a Clone Turbo Tank in stock, or Palpatine's Shuttle.

There's a Clone Turbo Tank in NYC at the Tribeca store - don't know if that can help you at all.

This is great I was able score twice with same cashier who didn't blink when I asked about using the coupon.
She just said 'sure no problem' and ranged it up. So I'm good for now, until December 26, 2011.
Forgot to mention - my great score was a Lego Mindstorms NXT 2.0 and a LEGO Republic Frigate 7964.

Many thanks to the OP. The coupon worked every time for me, at three different stores. I was able to get the Hogwart's castle gate/bridge, Escape from Dragon Prison, and best of all, Mill Village Raid. I kept receipts in case I find any of these for cheaper after Christmas. Had City of Atlantis on hold at another store but have been hearing it is likely due for discount after Christmas (and I couldn't pass up the Mill Village at a discount). I have to say that the past two years around the holidays, Barnes & Nobles has made buying Legos a lot more reasonable/possible for me. Thanks again.
