Does anyone know exactly where I could purchase Slave 1? It doesn't appear to be up on any shopping sites yet. I'm guessing Toys R Us?

I haven't seen them anywhere myself, nor have I heard of anyone seeing them yet. They were made available on amazon.fr (the French site) a while ago and Huw over at Brickset bought almost all of them as the shipping from France to England wasn't too unreasonable to get them months in advance, but it would've been too costly to order for shipping to the States.

I'd say another month or so and we'll start seeing them in TRU and LEGO Stores.

Alright that's reassuring. I set aside some money for one but I haven't been able to find it anywhere and I could not for the life of me remember where everybody was snapping these up from. That Boba Fett and Bossk minifigure, as well as the Han Solo/Carbonite minifig are so enticing. Now I just need them to make 2 more bounty hunters and I can recreate some of The Empire Strikes Back. Also Slave 1 might be one of the best designed ships they have at the moment.

The previous incarnation of Slave 1 featured IG-88 and Dengar, if those are the two you're referring to... I don't think they've ever made a Zuckuss of 4-LOM, I guess those will come with the next version of Slave 1, due sometime next year ;)

Ugh those are awful models...I thought they would've done a better job for Dengar and IG 88...Alright I can make my own from random minifigs...Also IG 88 is black.

Well, he's really more of a gunmetal gray color, but he's certainly not silver. But yeah, it seems that set was back in the era where they still used mostly generic smileys for everyone.

In the Empire Strikes Back IG 88 is black but everyone goes through so many manifestations its hard to tell. Also Dengar doesn't wear a towel wrapped around his entire head, its just the upper forehead to hide all the surgery he's had as well his cybernetics. Tisk tisk.

Re: LEGO Star Wars 8128 Cad Bane’s Speeder

Post by legitimatealex » Sat Jun 05, 2010 9:04 am

:? This is a shame because Cad Bane is probably the second most awesome character in the Star Wars line (Boba Fett first of course). I'm not surprised about the price though. This just follows in a continuing trend of 'limited edition' (what, they come out for one year only? Like pretty much most other sets?) sets that seem to be plaguing Star Wars. I don't think this actually helps their sales... The heftier price tag defers people who aren't real collectors and just buy LEGO for the fun of it.

I'm looking forward to the Turbo Tank, but even more Cad's Speeder and Slave 1.

I'll pay $50 for those. Did I read that Fox is coming back in a new set?

I wouldn't be surprised if Bane ended up coming out in a magnet set, much like Admiral Ackbar and Barriss Offee, before the year's end.

My only must buy for the new sets is the Slave 1, as I don't have one yet. I may just bricklink Cad. That set is going to be just as expensive as Slave 1 and possibly might not be worth it. I'd have to see a review first.

Who would they stick him with? It would have to be some more Clone Wars characters but none are coming to mind.

If I was a betting man, I would say Aayla Secura. Then the third one might be either General Grievous or the Senate Commando Captain.

So far, my only must buys are the Wampa Cave and the yet to be seen Midi-Scale Star Destroyer. I might get the new AT-AT, but I'll have to wait for better pictures before I make a more definitive decision.

That would be a great set! Even putting in a regular Anakin or an Ahsoka would be awesome.

I love the first choice you have but I'm not sure about the second one. He'd be pretty hard to fit on a magnet with his crazy arm setup and his hunch. The third is more likely (or maybe an Anakin fig).
