Couldn't resist picking this one. Lots of parts for $25!
Re: [USA] Amazon.com 50% off LEGO PoP 7572 Quest Against Tim
Agreed! They had this at 50% off several months back and I missed out. Definitely going to grab it this time. I just hope the other PoP sets get a similar discount. They have interesting elements, but I can't justify paying full price.
Thanks for the heads up, TNB!

Cool, I just got one. Thanks!

Being relatively new to the concept of Legos being a better investment than gold or stocks, do you guys think themes like PoP go up much in value or desire after being retired?

Free shipping on this item, don't need the extra $0.09 cents to get your order up to $25. ;)

Re: [USA] Amazon.com 50% off LEGO PoP 7572 Quest Against Tim
@adol7 My impression is that Prince of Persia sets will NOT grow in value very quickly after retirement. There has been sale after sale on these sets for a long time now. Not 10% off sales, but tons of 50% off sales. Even 75% off. The minifies on Bricklink don't go for a huge amount of money, these are not beloved characters, and this is not a long-term franchise. The sets (for my purposes) have some cool parts in colors I often use.
If you look on the aftermarket for a lot of LEGO sets you will find very little increase in value over time, even though they have been retired for awhile. I'm thinking of Vikings as an example. They have value - they are cool sets, they sell. but it's not an AMAZINg investment.
The other franchises do better, as do more collector-friendly sets such as modular buildings.
Just my personal take.

Thanks for the response, BrickUpdate. I'd have to agree. I got the Lego bug in the last couple of months and was buying anything that was a good price, but I need to resist and stick to what's either fun for the kids & me, or what'll have value down the road, not just anything with a clearance sticker. :p

I think the PoP sets make good modding material for creating Indiana Jones scenes.
Re: [USA] Amazon.com 50% off LEGO PoP 7572 Quest Against Tim
This was one of the least interesting sets of the PoP line.
The Fight for the Dagger and Alamut sets featured Gold, Brown, Tan, white and some sort of butterscotch colour. Here we have predominately grey. Though had it been around in my stores last fall when the clearances first arisen I may have added it to my pile. But after 4-daggers and only 1 Alamut (I keep shirking the 30%off alamuts at Target) I have about exhausted my interest in repurposing PoP.
Though If anyone would like some camels let me know :)

I agree with @koromo about this set in particular. Too much gray. The other sets in this line, especially Almut are great for colors. I expect them to be 50%-75% around the Fall/Holiday timeframe. Can't believe that they are still considered an active LEGO line.

I thought alamut was a pretty good looking set for the price (50-something) It has a camel, what's not to like. :)
Re: [USA] Amazon.com 50% off LEGO PoP 7572 Quest Against Tim
What's not to like is that it doesn't seem to be going on sale more than about 25% off. I've been waiting for it to hit something like 40% off or more. They keep putting Quest Against TIme on sale, but that set isn't as good. I think it's only a matter of time though. I see rows of Alamut boxes at my local TRU, so I know there's stock out there.gator06 wrote:I thought alamut was a pretty good looking set for the price (50-something) It has a camel, what's not to like. :)

I'm going to wait for k-mart to clearance it. Then it's going to be at least 50% off.Zeya wrote:What's not to like is that it doesn't seem to be going on sale more than about 25% off.
