Canada Post Strike May Start this Thursday
It has just been announced that if the negotiations are not successful, Canada Post workers will have a strike starting this thursday midnight. Besides not getting your regular lettermail, what this means is that parcels that are in transit will be on hold if they are not delivered by thursday. There's no clue how long this strike will be, but the last strike was 15 years ago and took 16 days. So if your a Bricklink seller or planning to purchase something online that ships via Canada Post (i.e Barnes & Nobles), you should avoid them for now.
And if the shipping rates are not already expensive enough, we can probably all start expecting a tax raise or an increase in postal rates soon.

Again? Lets hope this doesn't last long. I don't think I have any packages coming so I think I'm fine.
Re: Canada Post Strike Starts this Thursday Midnight
I just ordered some parts from brick link on Friday! Crap!

That is not quite what the news story you linked-to says.Toys N Bricks wrote:It has just been announced that negotiations have failed and Canada Post has officially declared a strike. Canada Post services will be distrupted as postal workers starts their strike this thursday midnight.
Rather, the news is that the worker's union has put forward their "final offer" and have given notice that if a an agreement is not reached before Thursday at midnight, then a strike will begin.

I just bought a crapload of stuff on Bricklink for the first time (to try and rebuild this), and have a couple of orders coming from Calgary. Apparently at the moment the strike has hit Calgary. Hopefully things workout.

I received my order at BN.com this morning. It seems the strike doesn't affect Vancovuer much.

Canada Post has now suspended service for the entire nation. I guess they're getting fed up with the union's rotating strikes so they decided to lock them all out instead.

Re: Canada Post Strike May Start this Thursday
Well, well, what do we have here... Canada Post is back to work after the government put out a "back-to-work legislation". The union obviously isn't happy and plans to challenge it in court.
I hope I still get my Summer LEGO Catalog.

I hope all the parcels being sent to me make it to me fine. I got one yesterday but I still have a few left that were sent to me prior to the strike (including two coming from outside of Canada; Alaska and Ohio).
