$50 is way too expensive for a fighter and some old minifigures.

TLG must really like this ship. I have the old $20 dollar one and that's it.

Does anyone have any information on the new 7879Hoth Base? I see this set on Brickipedia, but I don't recall reading anything about it anywhere. If someone has a link to more information on this set that would be awesome.

Thanks for the news! What a great set. :D German LEGO.com description is as follows:
Get ready to attack! The imperial troops have discovered the secret Rebel base on the ice planet Hoth and prepare for battle. Han Solo, Chewbacca and Princess Leia stand ready to defend the base, while Luke Skywalker in Bacta tank, and is assisted by Medizindroiden 2-1B. Contains R-3PO Droid and seven other minifigures. Comes with base-stable, Tauntuan stall, Tauntaun, functioning crane, two stretchers rotating radar dishes, ice fall, and speeder bike.

Just to clarify the German translation, it mentions that Luke is being assisted by the 2-1B Surgical Droid and that the set contains two Snowtrooper minifigs and comes with a Tauntuan stall and a Tauntaun - not a Tauntaun Tauntaun. :)

Looks awesome!

The set looks interesting and a nice addition to the other Hoth sets. That said, if I didn't own the other Hoth sets to combine with this one, its functionality seems a little weak.

What's right with this set?

- the overall size/scope
- the Bacta Tank
- 2-1B
- Princess Leia has the right hair (finally!)

What's wrong with this set?

- all the decidedly non-Star Wars-y weapons, missiles, dishes
- a catwalk?
- no General Reikann
- another Speeder Bike?
- another E-Web?
- R-3P0? Seriously?

I just want to know why there is not a Han Solo figure with this set?
Please take a look at what I have!

Looks like that Han Solo uses the new hood from the CMF Series 5 eskimo.
