Crutch Technique Ideas
Crutch Technique Ideas
I'm planning on doing a small Christmas Carol scene/minifigures, and have gotten stuck on the character of Tiny Tim. As he's a child, I gave him short legs, but cannot figure out how to give him a suitable crutch. I've tried this part:http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60849 but cannot work it so that he doesn't seem to be carrying an upside-down gun. I've searched Brickshelf, Flickr, and Brothers Brick, with no success. Any suggestions?

Re: Crutch Technique Ideas
Well, I don't know anything about Christmas stories but http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4596 might make a good crutch if you were to scale up your dioramas to something around LEGOLAND figure scale.
Re: Crutch Technique Ideas
How about one of those long black wrenches with the pointy end.
Re: Crutch Technique Ideas
The "carrot top" would probably be perfect shape-wise, if it came in anything other than bright green.
The hammer or CMFs3 baseball player bat might work well...

That might be a little big for a child size minifigure.BobaFett2 wrote:Well, I don't know anything about Christmas stories but http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4596 might make a good crutch if you were to scale up your dioramas to something around LEGOLAND figure scale.

Maybe one of those bar with clips might work with short legs.

My mistake, I didn't read all the way through. You're right that would be good :)BobaFett2 wrote:I said scale up.legitimatealex wrote:That might be a little big for a child size minifigure.BobaFett2 wrote:Well, I don't know anything about Christmas stories but http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4596 might make a good crutch if you were to scale up your dioramas to something around LEGOLAND figure scale.

Add to the hammer a detached black minifig handvynsane wrote:The "carrot top" would probably be perfect shape-wise, if it came in anything other than bright green.

Thanks for all the great suggestions! :) I've decided on the mini wrench element, with a minifig hand for Tiny Tim to hold on to. I originally was going to use the hammer, but decided the mini wrench provided a better illusion of his arm over the crutch. The finished figs will be posted on my MOCpages sometime today or early tommorow! ;)
@NIGELTFF: Yes, that's actually similar to what I will use. I decided on it after fiddling around with the hammer, wrench, and minifig hand elements, with inspiration from "vynsane" and "everybody" of course. Thanks for the suggestion though! :D
@BobaFett2: Yeah, I found that crutch technique on flickr when searching for inspiration. Thanks, though, and I'll be sure to use it if I ever build in Tiny Tim in miniland scale! :)
