Pirates of the Caribbean pre-order @ BN.com w/10% discount

Post by BrickUpdate » Thu Dec 30, 2010 2:30 pm

I stumbled upon this today: Barnes & Noble now has the Pirates of the Caribbean sets available for pre-order with 10% off. They ship on May 1, 2011. You can find the sets by searching LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean:

How are we supposed to know what we're buying without the pictures? :)

Exactly! Why the heck would I preorder something I can't see? That's like buying a car before you get to test drive and inspect it.

Yeah! By the way, I've got a house to sell you. Only 100,000 dollars! What a bargain! *No pictures available*

Beach side property naturally, with good schools and within walking distance of all public utilities right?

Hmm... so I wonder if the 10% is before or after the B&N Membership 10% discount? Anyone know?
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

You can also use your B&N Membership card for the 10% off, making it a 19% overall discount... not bad... $163.56 plus tax (i think?), and free shipping for 6 sets... not bad at all.

You can also pre-order the hardback Brickmaster: Lego City that comes out this summer, for 36% plus mbrship discount drops it to 43% off! How can you pass that up? All this fun, shipped free, no having to think about having to hunt them down in stores... all for 19% off or better.... I'm having a hard time not proceeding with checkout...

It doesn't really matter, does it? It's 10% before 10% either way.

Well, worst case scenario, can't you buy them now and if you have a change of heart and a local BN by your home you can return them?

Ya it does. My question was basically: Is it the 10% off they give you with your B&N Membership, or is it 10% off the price, with you able to ADD the other 10% discount (giving you an overall discount of 19% instead of just 10%).

Ex: $100 set

If it is only 10% period with the B&N Membership, the cost is $90.
If you can use the 10% B&N member discount AS WELL AS the 10% off they give you to pre-order, the cost is $81.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

Exactly my thoughts. Especially with no shipping costs... I'm not sure if B&N charges tax for some states too, so might even get "an extra discount" by avoiding tax :) (doubtful). The worst thing that will happen is you get this theme for 19% off, it goes on sale later for a higher % off, and you end up reselling this set even at MSRP and profit 19% =)

Just a note to whomever may be browsing the forums, there are now pictures up of these sets around the web, and they were officially published by MTV.com for some strange reason.

Very promising to look at.

From a Canadian pricepoint, the sets with 10% off are "good" compared to what the Canadian price will likely be. 4183 The Mill is one of my more favoured sets and getting it for $35 + shipping cost is good compared to what I'll likely find it for when it's released in Canada.

not only can you preorder the POTC sets on BN you can also preorder many of the Cars and Lego City-Space theme at 10% off. If you just type lego into the search box and sort from release date there is all sorts of good stuff for preorder. HP Visual Dictionary with exclusive minifig! I did not even know that was in the works...

Yeah they've canceled my order. I'm pissed. I commented in this thread as well:

Man, they weren't even nice enough to cancel it while TRU had BOGO 50%..... at least that would have been 'nice' because you could still get a better discount...

I ordered a Kingdoms Carriage Rescue and Pre-order of the Brickmaster Book (City) ... hope i receive that, especially since I used a groupon on it.
