Themes Discontinued in 2011 Speculation

Post by Mantisking » Thu Sep 23, 2010 11:43 am

Since we've seen pictures of new themes in 2011, and Lego has only limited space for molds, what do you think is going by the wayside for 2011? I'm guessing Agents, Power Miners, and Space Police III. I think that SP3 going away makes sense if they're starting a new space sub-theme for City.

Any other guesses?

Please don't talk like that.
I still have hope there will be more. :(
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

I'm sure there will be at some point, but the addition of Ninjago and the Pharaohs Quest lines means something has to be put on hold.

But if you're underground the last thing you want to look like IS the underground. You want to stand out in case you get stranded. It's why construction workers, crossing guards, and firefighters wear reflective stripes and orange vests.

EDIT:

Oh and I'd say that Ben 10 is getting axed in 2011, as is Bionicle, both of which we already know. That's where some of your shelf space is coming from. I also expect Space Police III to go. Power miners didn't get a huge set this time around so they still have a half a year to go.

Bionicle is gone, but that has been replaced by Hero Factory already. Ben 10 being such a small line might give them room for another tiny line. Maybe Power Miners as you say.

Interesting that we've almost only seen sneak peeks at all-new themes, nothing pre-existing save for Atlantis. I have to think World Racers has a few more waves to go, having just started in April of this year. I agree we'll probably not see any more Space Police 3  or Power Miners. Prince of Persia is likely not to return.

It's too soon for sp3 to go. They just released 3 more sets just this year. World racer and sp3 should last until next year. The rest would probably go to make way for the new themes. I don't know about you but my wallet can't take much more of abuse like this year's. I hope they come up with more crappy themes that I can afford to ignore. Like ben10. :D

I want a snow/ice theme again. It's been 10 years!

I was hoping rumors of power miners having and ice theme w/ ice monsters was true.
that would be awesome.

I'm guessing PoP's spot is being filled by Harry Potter.

Yeah, there are too many sets to collect this year, like toy story, PoP, SP3, SW, Indiana Jones, Modular/Creator House, CMS1, CMS2. Too much damage to my bank account. After I have seen the images from "Pharaoh's Quest", I had the same feeling as natelite - pls hold on the good theme for awhile. :D

Actually, at the beginning, I was disappointed Police set appears again from City theme. Now I am glad that the lego team being conservative. Imo, I found K7744 set is better than upcoming one.

When it comes to brickipedia, does Lego let that website know what sets they plan on coming out with or is it pure speculation? What are the odds of what they list as upcoming comes true? I mean before there are even preliminary images floating around out there.
