I still don't understand the loathing for CMFs3. To me, this one is a little boring compared to the third series, but I actually like the fact that we're getting similar themed figures - the skateboarder from s1 looks so lonely sometimes, he'll be less emo with a friend ;)

Actually, I could see the skateboarders fitting in well in a CITY-themed layout, so I say the more the merrier!

And we still don't have series 3 in Canada!

What seems different about this series as opposed to the previous three is that are no clear "winner" and "loser" figs. Nothing like the Zombie vs. the Demo Dummy, The Spartan vs. the traffic cop, or the Elf vs The Race Car Driver. I was confident in my previous picks, and was mostly right.

This time, I am not so sure, however my pick for the winner is Muskateer and the least desirable will be the Skateboarder.

Sorry if I upset you. We are all individual and we have independnt thinking and favor. I was subjective when I complained for CMFs3 coz' I find some of those minifigures are not good looking.

IMO, CMFs3 does come with good minifigures but not as much as other series.

Heh, no problem - I'm a bit more thicker-skinned than to get upset over someone's personal preference for one series of little plastic people over another ;)

While I agree that there were general trends for certain figures, I think over-all someone's Skateboarder v.2 is another person's Spartan - it's all personal preference in the end. I find I'm on the opposite end of most opinions with my preference for CMFs1 over s2, s3 over s4, mainly because of the dearth of sci-fi themed figures in the even numbers. That said, I don't think I've actively disliked a single figure yet, though some are less appealing than others. At first, I thought about not collecting every figure from s2, but that opinion was swayed as I saw more pics and also succumbed to the Collectible MiniFever.

That said, the Muskateer probably isn't going to be quite so feverishly hoarded as the Spartan, since the 3 Muskateers (four if you count d'Artagnan) is a lot less than the 300 Spartans ;)

I will pick Frankenstein as the winner and fisherman as the loser; however, my pick usually does not match with the majority. In fact, you could see how inaccurate my guess was as I picked Vampire vs traffic cop from CMFs2, robot vs demo dummy from CMFs1.

who was the dummy for series 2?

Instead of another skateboarder, they should've done an inline skater or disco roller skater. I really like the monster theme that got for each series.

I wasn't going to get many from series 3, until i saw the hundreds of untouched packs at Meijer yesterday.
I now have 12 (14 total 2 snowboarder and 2 space villians), and not interested in the other 4, except maybe gorilla suit guy if i find him (only because I actually WAS a guy in a gorilla suit for a wedding once. )

I defiantly don't want mummy, street punk or sumo guy.
I have inoperable cancer and am unable to work. Any gifts would be appreciated. Thank you!

General consensus is the Traffic Cop, but I'd think he's more useful than the Weightlifter.

Roller skating is more similar to ice skating, which already is represented twice in CMFs4. I think the Skateboarder v.2, while a bit repetitive, is a better choice than a roller skater. Plus a roller-disco figure would still be a copy of the disco guy from CMFs2, so any way you slice it, it would've been a dupe/redo.

He would be more useful, except most AFOLs have more police minifigures than they can use. Truely what is more useful, getting a 61rst cop, or a 2nd weightlifter?

I've never heard anyone say they wanted a weightlifter on every corner ;)

Seriously, though, the cop was different because he had the CHiPs style uniform (tan/brown) as opposed to the "local beat" style uniform (generally blue). I don't recall seeing too many LEGO sets with the tan/brown version - and you could swap out some green pants and the cowboy's hat make him a park ranger or something!

So they can reuse the helmet in CMFs5 for the football player ;)

My opinions.

The Monster -- The head is great.
Surfing Girl -- I like the job they did making the torso and legs look like a wet suit.
Sailor -- Pillsbury Doughboy?
Kimono Girl -- Let's call it a Geisha and I'll be happy.
Punk -- Awesome. Let's hope we'll see the mohawk in regular sets.
Viking -- Enh. He looks like he belongs in an opera.
Speed Skater -- That's not a speed skater. My guess? The skates will become the wanted accessory from this set.
Hockey Player -- "Army" builder fodder. See above.
Skateboarder -- The one from CMF1 was better.
Man in Safety Suit -- Awesome haz-mat suit and accessory!
Musketeer -- I like the hat and the sword.
Werewolf -- Enh.
Artist -- I like this one.
Mad Professor -- It's the bad guy from the Agents line in disguise!
Football Player -- "Army" builder fodder.
Garden Gnome -- Really? What a joke.

You said the sailor was Philsbury Dough Boy.. did you mean... Staypuft Marshmellow man?! LOL

Also i've noticed that we have the Cop, Indian, Sailor & Cowboy. So now all lego has to do is release a Biker and a Construction worker figure and you have the Village People. Of course you could always pull those off other sets LOL.
