Too late to start collecting Ninjago?

Recently my kids have started to like Ninjago. Because of their new-found interest I've decided to buy some of the Ninjago toys, specifically the Spinjitzu sets, for them to play. However, I discovered that Lego has already discontinued them, and through my searches on eBay and Amazon, it appears that they are now prices much, much higher than their original retail price.

Is it too late to start buying Ninjago toys unless you are willing to spend considerable amount of money?

The older sets were retired quickly, a lot of the snake sets sold like hotcakes. However there is this year's sets and next year's sets.

Amazon has 2-3 spinners for less than $10 and I think $10 was their normal price. So if you search around you can get some of the older sets for cheapish.

Thanks for your help. However, my boys only like the ninjas have no interest in the bad guys, so I have to get them the heroes of Ninjago. I'll continue to look around and see if I can find a good deal on the net.

Always good to check Bricklink too, especially if you're after specific figs instead of whole sets.

What Brick & Blue said, toys from the last season can still be found for MSRP or less from sales, plus the next wave\season is comming\airing next year too. For the older sets as cornbread have mentioned you bircklink for the figures, but complete sets can be very pricy.
