LEGO 2013 Sets Shown to Retailers
According to Toy News, Independant Toy Retailers have now seen the upcoming LEGO 2013 sets for the January wave! These retailers however are not allowed to share it with the public yet. But from previous years, I'm sure this retailer catalogue will be leaked out eventually as they have never stayed confidental for more than a few weeks. Thanks to Jeff for the heads up.
Here's what some of the retailers have to say about the upcoming 2013 LEGO sets. Seems like an exciting year with lots of cool LEGO products!
It’s great seeing Lego continuing to embrace all forms of media to promote their brand, such as cartoons, apps and computer games
It presents a very compelling image to a child and we always know how children love to be able to incorporate Lego into the various different forms of entertainment they enjoy.

I hope that there's some new Monster Fighter and Spongebob sets.
Can't wait to see the Star Wars and LOTR sets.

Or what's going to replace Ninjago.
Re: LEGO 2013 Sets Shown to Retailers
I'm guessing Legends of Chima. But I did hear rumors that there will be one more Ninjago wave before being discontinued.stevenli wrote:Or what's going to replace Ninjago.
Re: LEGO 2013 Sets Shown to Retailers
I can't imagine them discontinuing Ninjago - it's pretty much a license to print money. They will continue it. However, they have way too many product lines right now - given the limited shelf-space at (major) retailers. However, they are probably hoping to get more and more into the direct sales market (i.e. S@H) - meaning they can have a bigger product line and lower margins as they don't have to pay retailers for shelf-space etc. etc.

At Target and Walmart, they were able to gain new shelf space with Friends being put in the doll section. Although at the same time, it seemed like they lost some traditional LEGO shelf space to MegaBlocks with their Halo and now World of Warcraft lines. (I can't stand MegaBlocks, but wish LEGO had these licenses if I was rich.)
Toys R Us gives a lot of space for LEGO, but unfortunately they price it so high that I barely have been able to make a purchase there in over 18 months.

There was a confirmation somewhere in an interview where TLG has confirmed they will be discontinuing the LEGO Ninjago brand in 2013. It has also be rumored that the LEGO Ninjago cartoon show on Cartoon Network will have one more season along with some sets released early 2013. This will be the last wave of sets for this theme.harry99 wrote:I can't imagine them discontinuing Ninjago - it's pretty much a license to print money. They will continue it. More Rumor 2013 Technic Sets and LEGO Teaser Poster
Tomas informs us there is also a new LEGO Teaser Poster for 2013 from the LEGO Club Magazine. Seems like an Artic theme. Maybe Legends of Chima? ((picture from Bricklife via Groove Bricks)

Hmm.... very interesting. Do the crystals point to another mining-like theme, or are they meant to be part of some sort of ice cave? A new and improved Artic theme would be sort of neat to see. And new crystal elements are never a bad thing... ;)

It's a new arctic theme, Polar Explorers.

Could be a lost civilization with some mysticism. Perhaps with some anachronisms like Ninjago had.
Re: LEGO 2013 Sets Shown to Retailers
I kinda thought this was the same as this...but it's not.

This is what I think. Though from the info I've seen it will be called Polar Xxpress. That is one of the new themes that is supposed to be coming in 2013. This seems to fit with thatmah4546 wrote:It's a new arctic theme, Polar Explorers.

Oh my... an Arctic theme? Can't wait to learn more about this. I've always wanted a snow plough in my LEGO city.

I know many of you are going to ask for a source, but unfortunately I can not provide that so you can take what I say with a grain of salt. 2013 will be good to us "Medieval" fans with a second installation of Castle(s).
Re: LEGO 2013 Sets Shown to Retailers
As in non-licensed castle/medieval? We all know that Hobbit sets are coming. I would love to see my unlicensed castle theme return though.itztitoyo wrote:I know many of you are going to ask for a source, but unfortunately I can not provide that so you can take what I say with a grain of salt. 2013 will be good to us "Medieval" fans with a second installation of Castle(s).
