Pieces you'd like to see made.

Post by vynsane » Mon Apr 23, 2012 1:22 pm

Obviously the pieces we already have are fantastic and multitudinous, otherwise we wouldn't be fanatical about them, but there are definitely some glaring omissions and there are some other pieces that would be great to have. One thing that came to my mind recently was a transitional slope piece akin to the 2x4 transition slope:

But instead of transitioning from a standard 1x1 90° brick to 1x2 45° slope, we could use a 45°to 33° slope transition, meaning one end would have the footprint of a 1x2 45° slope and the other end would have the footprint of a 1x3 33° slope, sort of like this (obviously it would need the stud notches and such):

I wish TLG would come out with curve builder bricks. I've made a few by hand just to test out the concept and I think they have a lot of potential both for making traditional (but curved) stacked brick walls as well as stud aligned hinges, funky roof tiles, architectural details, and various SNOT applications. The shot below shows a 1x2 half-curve builder (rounded on one end), but I've also been experimenting with a 1x2 full-curve builder (rounded on both ends) as well as 1x3 half and full builders (for extra strength in staggering joints.

If you'd like to see some sample LDRAW examples of the above bricks in action, check out my CUUSOO propsal at http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/11120 (and if you like what you see, please comment and/or cast a vote of support - Thanks)

^ Very cool ideas. They would definitely provide a lot of interesting architectural details, especially in modular-styled buildings.

A stud on both side piece to do stable compact reversals of directions
and a brick with holes on two sides for the inverse.

Also the inverse of the cheese slope.

A half length of the lightsaber blade would have merit

a double reverse 75 degree peice would be nice.

Basically more slopes and curved pieces. I have nothing particular in mind, but its a real hassle to build anything with a curve.

How about arms that have short sleeves, right now figs can have no sleeves or long sleeves. it would be cool to have short sleeves. Also It would be cool to pay to have a custom minifig made. maybe they have a lego minifig designer that lets you design a minifig choosing from different body part colors and letting you add the printings. it would be expensive but many would be willing to pay for a truly unique minifig in their likeness.

I came across something like that years ago. I think it was MegaBlocks. It was a 2x2x1.5?(plate) where it would bridge studs. I thought it was great, but wanted an official LEGO.

The curved bricks and the reversal bricks would take building to a new level.
