I really like these little vignettes that everyone makes. Don't get me wrong, the large scale scenes are awesome. But the Standard Vignette size of 8 x 8 I think is a bit small to work in for my tastes. I admire those who can do it though. I mean you are able to convey a cool scene/story in such a small space, very nicely done, lots of detail etc. But after seeing like these:

I think there should be a Medium Scale Vignette Standard
And I was thinking somewhere around 8 x 16 or 8 x 24 should be a good size to work with. But with the medium scale standard I think there should be a height maximum.
With the 8 x 8 small vignettes, building up is about your only option, but with the medium scale, I think you could get a lot done in 8 x 18 with a standard height of maybe 7 or 8 (and maybe 2/3 to adjust for flooring/tiles)
What are your opinions? Or do they already have such a standard?
Just a thought.
Medium Size Vignette Standard
Re: Medium Size Vignette Standard
So along with this, I decided to give it a shot.
This one is unfinished... but it will give you and idea of the scale size and the range of detail that can be put in. BTW, this is my very first vignette, so be honest upon your critiquing :)
The size is 8 x 16 x 6 1/3

Re: Medium Size Vignette Standard
So at the present, I guess theres very little or no Medium Size Vignette Standard?
Your Vignette is pretty good for the first time. Good for Indiana Jones temple / tombs with those tan pieces.

I don't believe there is a standard for this size vignette.Eddy976 wrote:So at the present, I guess theres very little or no Medium Size Vignette Standard?

And thanks for the compliments... I spend a lot of time looking at others creations. So when I build something, it usually has a lot of thought behind it.
Re: Medium Size Vignette Standard
The walls needs more detail (seems too plain) but I like the hole in the wall.
Re: Medium Size Vignette Standard
I agree, the walls do seem a little too plain, but you work with what you got :)legogeek wrote:The walls needs more detail (seems too plain) but I like the hole in the wall.
And thanks. I've seen people really re-think how the shape of a lego can play into a simple scene. Something that was meant for one purpose now has 100 purposes and people keep thinking up new ways to use them.
And the hole is actually 2 deep, so the other side of it (I'll up some pics of it today) look like it's all part of the same hole. Kind neat actually.
I just wish I had a larger variety of tan pieces... was trying to go for some sort of filigree at the top of the tomb walls to make it look more ornate.
Re: Medium Size Vignette Standard
I made some changes. Legogeek was right, I added some detail to the walls, and I think it looks about 43.6% better :)
Any thoughts?

Re: Medium Size Vignette Standard
Much better now. The 6 bricks on the top looks a bit like a human statue.
