What is the most you've paid OVER MSRP for a set?

Post by atmail35 » Thu Mar 03, 2011 7:40 am

Along the lines of the thread about full-price, what is the most you've spent over MSRP and which set was it?

So far I have not gone the Ebay route and have not spent over MSRP. I only shop at TRU if I can get it for MSRP or less, wait that's a lie. I did get 6-8 S3 CMF at TRU for $3.99. But I haven't done that for a set.

I have never paid over MSRP for a set, I only buy things on sale unless they are cheap $4-$5 sets, then maybe I pay MSRP.

Ummm, I'm sure I've done one or two but they've never been more than perhaps a dollar or two more, and that's mostly because it was a set I couldn't find anywhere except Toys R Us.

About $50 Over MSRP when I bought the Hoth Rebel Base (7666) set NIB last Summer for $100. Still, I felt I got a good deal at the time as they were going for about $130 new then.

I think I've only bought over-MSRP at TRU - and even then, it was during a BOGO50 or B2G1F sale, so it still evens out to below MSRP ;)

I got it back in January 2008 for $110. But then I heard that LEGO may re-release this set again because of the demand (sold out within a few months of release). So I sold it and got back the money.

I brought it for retail at $73.5 from LEGOShop with tax included during Summer 2008 when it was released for the second time. ToysRUs that time already raised the price to like $64.99 USD / $79.99 CAD. Prices soared back to around $100 after it was discontinued again. So I don't think I paid anything over MSRP. I wanted the gold C-3PO but $200 is too much for a figure.
