How do you catalog your collection?

Post by oocaleb101oo » Fri Jan 07, 2011 2:10 pm

Just looking for ideas on how some of you catalog your collection. I'm pretty much just buying and then putting them in their appropriate space. Would love to get someone elses opinion on what's the best way to catalog.

There are some forum type sites for various game systems/games.
I am on a wii site that is kind of similar but not as nifty.

Brickset.com

Seriously it is by far the easiest way to keep track of your sets, AND your minifigures.

I kept the instructions in a seperate bin. When I was introduced to Excel I tried keeping a list.

Brickset is very helpful. What is scary is that I have visual memory of every set without checking my old bin, finding it on Brickset is another matter. The 80's wind up motor was an odd one to find.

I use brickset.com. 519 sets! It doesn't have all the books though-the puzzle books, the easy learner reading books, or some other things. The database also is missing some info, but it's a great site.

Tell me about it. I can pretty much imagine every single set I've ever bought.

I use a spreadsheet. I haven't had to build a SQL database yet.

Or you think you've bought. I new about 50% after I came out of my "dim ages". Once I found brickset, I used instructions. I'm still adding sets (as in I'm still finding stuff)

I use Brickset and Peeron, brickset is nicer for browsing my set collection but peeron is more accurate for determining the value and piece count of my collection (brickset only has this for newer sets)
