Lego Brickheadz vs. Mega blok Kubros

Post by rexx » Thu Oct 05, 2017 10:00 am

I avoided Brickheadz thinking they were just too expensive, $13 CAN.

My local Walmart had the Marvel Superheroes Brickheadz on for 50% off so I picked up 4, Captain, Ironman, Hulk, and Widow. I put them together in that order which worked out well since Widow is the more complex. Other than the a few printed pieces, I wasn't really impressed. A coworker kidnapped Hulk but I really don't miss him.

My local Dollar store got in a shipment of the last batch of Kubros for $4 CAN each. I picked up Spock and Terminator. The piece count is almost double the Brickheadz. The build is far more complex and I could tell someone put some thought and effort into the design. They're pose able. They're bigger/taller and more impressive on display next to the Brickheadz. I went back and bought the rest of the set.

I was thinking that Lego did a poor job on the Brickheadz.

Then I see the Bobba Fett and Carbonite to be released at NY Comicon. I do think they look cool. I'm not planning on spending the small fortune on these.

I'll be watching to see what Kubros comes up with next.

I agree. I've been saying this forever but the Brick Heads should be brick built minifigure looking things.

Also what are they supposed to be? A collectable? They are numbered, but nearly half the first year's wave are exclusive. That makes no sense at all.

Last week, Dollarama got in another set of Kubros. I didn't hesitate this time and picked up the whole set.

The T-800 Terminator is cool. Intricate and a fun build. Looks awesome and menacing on the shelf. But to my surprise, the Evil Purple Minion was incredibly fun to assemble.

Its the diversity that I'm really enjoying with all the different characters, builds, and pieces. I can't imagine wasting another penny on the vanilla Brickheaz.

Dollarama just got in the last two waves of Kubros.

I've been the happy little builder for a week now.

The Xenomorph Alien is quite cool and the Ridley is fun. I'm a huge fan of Futurama so Bender and Fry are a must. You really can't go wrong with any of them.

I tried to do some research on the Mega Bloks Kubros only to learn that they've been discontinued. I was hoping for more of them.

There were some SDCC limited editions from TMNT.

There seemed to be plans for a 5th wave as indicated in the build instructions showing 6 more figures in blurred form.

From my limited detective skills, its apparent that
#19 is a one eyed Minion, perhaps Stuart.
#29 is Leela from Futurama.

It'd be cool to find out what characters were being planned and if the build instructions are available.

#5 could be from the "God of War" game.
#51 looks like Man At Arms from the He Man cartoon.
#92 could be a red Halo marine.

Yup, looks right.

And I have a message for Lego Brickheadz...

"Bite my shiny metal brick!"

What do you do if you have an extra Worf and Picard?

Build a Kubros Laforge and Kubros Ryker of course.
