Possibly a smattering of pieces from 4101 "Wild Collection"? Seems to be some of the right pieces and colors.

Help Identifying Older Space Themed Lego Set
Greetings all,
It might be a long time since I've really considered myself a dedicated LEGO fan, but I once had a pretty impressive collection and loved them to pieces (excuse the pun). I only have one complete set left, which I kept purposely because of the retro/coolness factor and because it has a great deal of sentimental value to me.
I remember walking through a dilapidated K-mart store with my mother, sister, and grandmother and I stumbled on a dented up and dusty old LEGO box that looked like it was found in the back under an old box of heavy merchandise and hastily put on the store shelves. I didn't know anything about it at the time other than it looked cool and old, so I asked my grandmother if I could have it and boom, it was mine. I don't remember much about LEGO sets when I was a kid but even for my time I think this one was a discontinued product by the time money had changed hands so that I might come to own it.
Anyway, maybe I'll bore you with the history lesson another time, for now I have some pictures of the set in question. I was hoping one of you with far more knowledge than myself might be able to identify it for me and let me know maybe just how rare of a find this really is. For all I know it was the most common set before I got into it, it could only be a few years older than the sets I bought as a kid.
Excuse the fishy looking links, I'm just uploading them on puush since it's quick and easy.
Also excuse the dust, this thing's been collecting it since the mid 90s.

The set is 1787 Crater Cruiser from the Unitron series.

Re: Help Identifying Older Space Themed Lego Set
I knew someone would know what it was, and very quickly too!
Thanks a bunch, I do miss some of the other sets I had as a kid but this one is by far the most unique I've ever owned, couldn't part ways with it :)

You're welcome.
It's value/rarity is pretty low, comparatively. Probably worth more in sentimental value than the $30-$40 it would fetch on bricklink. If you have the instructions with it, it will be worth a bit more. But, if you need instructions, at least you know now what to look for.

lego part iD has been changed?
I tried to find the list or parts for lego 8294. Here’s the link :
http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/8294-1
i checked one of the part. It’s the transparent ‘plate 1x1 round’ (tr Red) , which mentioned in peeron.com as having ID : 4073. The problem is when i tried to use this ID to search in lego (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Pick-A-Brick-ByTheme), the id return nothing. when i find in google using this id 4073, i got the correct part as displayed in peeron.com so it's confirmed that the ID is real. I’m confused why i can’t use this id in lego official website ? is this id has been altered by lego or what ? Btw i finally manage to find this item in shop.lego.com but its ID is : 30057 (design ID). Why the ID is different ? Does anyone have any explaination for this ?
Thanks
Andi

I'm pretty sure Peeron uses their own part numbering system. They don't update their inventory like they used to either.
Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard disk?

Re: Name that piece (the Brick/Minifigure identification top
BrickLink also uses 4073 as the part ID #. On BrickLink it also shows any alternate ID numbers to the left of the image of the part as you can see here: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4073
The reason LEGO changed the ID # is probably because they redesigned the piece, and although the change is almost indistinguishable from the previous version it was apparently enough to warrant an ID change.
