How come UK gets so many newspaper polybag giveaways?

I was browsing polybag sets and noticed many of them were exclusively given out as promos with newspapers in UK. Why does Lego not at least release these sets elsewhere for purchase?

LEGO may be contractually obligated to supply those particular polybags to those newspapers exclusively. It depends on what kind of deal the newspapers negotiated with LEGO and any limitation clauses in place. Or it is not worth LEGO's time and effort to sell them elsewhere.

Best bet is to find a relative or friend in the U.K. who reads those newspapers.

It is frustrating. There are a bunch of cool polys across the pond.

Well Target in USA had two years of an exclusive giftcard set that included their mascot Spot. And the second year it was a 3-in-1. Sure you had to pay for the giftcard for $5+, but it's easy to spend that. I really miss that promo.

There have been other hard to find polys in the USA. I had to buy Uruk-hai polys from overseas and other rare/non-USA sets.

Jealous about UK? There is no place like USA....yes, sometimes we don't get certain Legos or some we get later than other countries but come on..... this is USA we're talking about here, we get the majority and we get them first.

True. I'm in Canada. Lego is one reason that makes me want to move to the USA.
