Original Lego Set Price
Original Lego Set Price
Is there a place to find out what a Lego set originally retailed for. I am looking to find out full retail price of several now retired sets. I am planning on posting them for sale on this forum, and want to sell them at a fair price.

Re: Original Lego Set Price
brickset.com has a good catalog on set history, including prices and when the sets were available.
The original price isnt much of a guide to its current value, though. Some sets may be worth less, others may be more. Finding similar sets on bricklink.com and ebay will give you a better idea of their current value---especially if they are used.

I usually check peeron.com. This is good for older sets. Or you can also use brickset.com.
Sorry, this was posted the same time as the other reply, but I don't know how to delete it.

Re: Original Lego Set Price
For a baseline "happy medium" price, compare the completed listings on eBay and the sales history on www.bricklink.com to the original MSRP on www.brickset.com, then decide what it's worth to you somewhere in between those prices.

Have any sets actually gone down in value? I can't think of any.

I think the Prince of Persia sets have. I remember the castle selling for around $50-$60 when the retail was $80. I haven't checked in a couple of months though.
