[CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
[CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
Just checked ToysRUs and I noticed that they have the banners up for the remainer of their Bricktober sales. All in all it is a major disappointment...
Shop Now at ToysRUs.ca
Week Three Oct 14 to 20, 2011
*Update: Discount changed to Buy 1 get 15% off, Buy 2 get 20% off, Buy 3 get 25% off.
Spend $35 and get a free Lighthouse plus the Bricktober Magnet. Week Four Oct 21 to 27, 2011
*Update: Pharoah's Quest is no longer on sale. Instead, Creator and Star Wars have been added to the 20% off list.
20% of SpongeBob Square Pants, Hero Factory and Pharaoh's Quest plus the Bricktober Magnet (min. spend $35). Week Five Oct 28 to Nov 3, 2011
Spend $35 or more and get two for $60 on all $39.99 regular priced LEGO or LEGO games and get a free LEGO Harry Potter lab set Poly Bag. No Bricktober Magnet as this is week five... All in all a major disappointment in my opinion. They don't have anything on sale that would actually be desirable. From what I can tell the first few weeks they cleared things out and now they have some mediocre sales on for the remaining weeks.
I am not sure if I am missing anything good but it's disappointing.

Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
Thanks for the heads up. Its an ok sale, but I guess we all got starved way too long for a "ALL" Creator or Star Wars sale.
For week 3, the deal would be in the City Train sets and Medieval Market Village .
Week 5 appears to be the "best" sale in terms of the savings and the freebie. $60 for 2 on all regular $39.99 sets is basically 25% off for buying 2 sets. The free Harry Potter Lab set for week 5 is a lot more appealing compared to some glued magnets.
I've listed what I think are the best $39.99 sets below. Lame how Toys R Us overpriced Republic Swamp Speeder to $42.99 so that its excluded from these sales.

I agree with the City Train. Although no longer in the website/online the Red Cargo Train was priced by TRU at 179.99 I think last time the had 25%-off all city sets?

Really? Not a single week for Creator. Freaking stupid.
Seriously, if anyone is able to make a trip down to the US some time soon, I'd really appreciate it if you could help me pick up a set or two.

Yep, major disappointment. Has there been a single Creator sale all year?Toronadian wrote:Really? Not a single week for Creator. Freaking stupid.

Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
Wow, those sales are lame. Bricktober was a real dud; thanks to the glued magnets and the lackluster sales I will spend $0 instead of $140+ ($35+ x 4). At least my wallet was spared.
Thanks anyways, Harry99
It is really unfair that the US has a lower MSRP and better sales. They won't even throw us a bone.Toronadian wrote: Seriously, if anyone is able to make a trip down to the US some time soon, I'd really appreciate it if you could help me pick up a set or two.

Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
Is it possible to buy just the Bricktober figure alone? I would really like a Spaceman, but I also don't want to spend $35 just to get one.
Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
Red Cargo Train is available (back) online for C$175. I think it's limited to 7 items. So order now or wait for next week for the 20%-off City sale.

and just a correction, the last city sale is 20%-off not 25% as I have mentioned above.

Thanks for the note regarding the Red Cargo Train. If I order now will they credit me the difference of 20% back when I call them up on Friday?

Just got my flier, and the sale for week 3 is different then what's shown here. My flier says its a buy 1 get 15% off, buy 2 get 20% off and buy 3 and get 25% off on Atlantis, Kingdoms and City sets. Still get the magnet and the lighthouse if you buy $35 worth.
Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard disk?
Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
Yes, they changed the sale since they posted the ad on their page last week - odd!
But the buy three City, Kingdoms and Atlantis and you get 25% off is a great deal - specifically with the Red Cargo Train set...
Makes you wonder if they will change the sales for the remaining weeks as well?

They'll probably just tier the same themes they've listed. Ah, sorry, I'm being negative. I mean, of course, that they'll change it to 25% off Star Wars and Creator, and every large set will be in plentiful supply!harry99 wrote:Yes, they changed the sale since they posted the ad on their page last week - odd!

Me? I've just been taking my receipts from September back to the store and getting my minifig magnets and polybags by sponging off those purchases.

Signage in store was very explicit that the free Creator Lighthouse was only if you spend over $35 on City, Kingdoms and Atlantis, not on LEGO in general.
Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
I managed to find a Red Cargo train in stores today, none on the shelf, but asked an employee and he went to get one.

Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
looks like the website is having problems with the buy 3 and get 25% off again. Similar to last year's problem only 1 or 2 sets get reduced by 25% as opposed to the whole order (of 3 sets). The remaining 1 or 2 sets maintain their msrp. Last year I bought the taj mahal, green grocer, and carousel on a similar sale (obviously when creator was part of it) by calling in so that was one of the best pickups even though the discount brought it only close to US msrp because they all were going to be retired and I was able made a killing reselling them. Nothing in the current city or creator lineup that would be close to last year's pickup or in danger of being retired (fire brigade, MMV or emerald train could be next) but getting at least the red cargo train on sale would be good!

The system appears to be working fine. What items are you trying to add?

Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
tested several times, does not work for combinations of all or select lego city trains. works for 20% for two but not 25% for threeIce wrote:The system appears to be working fine. What items are you trying to add?
Re: [CANADA] 2011 Bricktober Sales for Weeks 3-5
Your right.. I tried removing the lighthouse and it still doesn't work. Add 3 items and 2 items gets discounted by 25% off while the last one doesn't get discounted at all. Time to call Toys R Us and get an extra 30% off again?

maybe wait till later in the week after the complaints start coming in, then hit them up with a frustrated buyer impression.
