Being as I have no interest in the mini figures am I the only one who still goes "ehh"? Sure it has 800 pieces, but it doesn't feel like it, doesn't feel special or anything. Just a group of mini figures thrown with some random pieces.

I'm tempted to buy and sell the minifigs on ebay. Get 800 pieces for pretty cheap this way.

Yes if you are not into the theme or collecting the dwarfs, then this set really is not that interesting at all which I totally agree.Brick & Blue wrote:Being as I have no interest in the mini figures am I the only one who still goes "ehh"? Goblin King is an example of how Lego has been flooding the market. Never pay full price again.

The set being this price shows many examples of problems marketing and why resellers shy away from becoming official partners. Lego still doesn't get it. Not sure how the new releases of Hobbit will fair, but scarey investments for many. My children reaffirmed months ago with no interest.

LOTR and Hobbit just don't do it for me. My kids have ZERO interest in this theme. Heck, my kids even want galaxy squad more.
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

It all sells well every where I've been. Especially if there is a sale.
Re: LEGO The Hobbit Goblin King Battle 79010 $44.99 @ Target
It doesn't help that this scene from the movie was ridiculous and the goblin king a huge travesty of stupidity.

I don't think you get it.zztoy wrote:The set being this price shows many examples of problems marketing and why resellers shy away from becoming official partners. Lego still doesn't get it. Why would resellers become official partners with LEGO? LEGO doesn't care as long as you buy the sets. After you buy it they don't care if you resell the set or not.
The problem with the LotR sets is they are several years too late. If they had them for the first trilogy that would have been a lot better. The Hobbit sets are in that weird age group where they are no longer young, but not really old, that group doesn't buy LEGOs. So now you older people buying them because they love the books and movies, and LEGO hoping the younger ones buy them because they look cool.
Re: LEGO The Hobbit Goblin King Battle 79010 $44.99 @ Target
Oh, but they do care...Lego dosnt want to sell to resellers. I believe many here can validate. Anyway, my point is, if you were to resell through their channels, your stuck with a lot of junk.

It's a good set, I'm glad I bought so many.
Re: LEGO The Hobbit Goblin King Battle 79010 $44.99 @ Target
I like the set and will get another.
Re: LEGO The Hobbit Goblin King Battle 79010 $44.99 @ Target
I think it looks like Indiana Jones in someways. Those were some great sets. The Hobbit is fine for many, my kids just aren't interested, but not all kids are the same. Great price for you, if it works out :)
Re: LEGO The Hobbit Goblin King Battle 79010 $44.99 @ Target
My 8 year-old daughter is a huge fan of both sets and movies, but I did introduce her.
Re: LEGO The Hobbit Goblin King Battle 79010 $44.99 @ Target
Side note, Lego recently marked the following Hobbit sets, as Retiring Soon:
79000 Riddles for the Ring
79002 Attack of the Wargs
79010 The Golbin King
So I wouldn't expect many more sales on the Goblin King set, as the OP asked about.

LoTR/Hobbit is in that strange age range. LoTR moves are not kids movies, but I find the sets to be the coolest LEGO offers...but I'm not a kid.
