Question for those more familiar with Target clearance sales...

Once Target starts putting up many of their sets on clearance for 15 to 30% off (like now) how long, on average, dose it take Target to start putting the ones still not selling well at the 15 to 30% off before they raise the sale to 50% off or more?

Also, the fact that Target is gearing up for all the new sets being released in August do you think they will speed up the process of getting to 50% off to make room for the new sets?

 Thanks.

Jim.

Went to two Houston-area Targets on Thursday

OST/Fanin: Moria and a couple of Star Wars planets are 15% off. However, nothing else had any discount and that included Monster Fighters, Quinjet, etc. Actually picked up the Harry Potter lab polybag: $4 so no discount but there were at least 5 of them stuffed down in some other building block big box like the Halo figures or something.

Pearland: Moria and an $80 creator truck (forget which) were 15% off. Again, nothing else discounted tho like Monster Fighters

It depends on the department getting cleared out. My experience is that typically with the regular toy aisle, its typically 2 weeks between markdowns. By the 6th week after the first round, they are sent to salvage (that is, given to Goodwill). The usual pattern is 15%/30%/50% off for the store around me, although sometimes the drop cycle is 30%/50%/75%. There are also exceptions, where they drop to 50% on the first day of clearance, and then are salvaged 2-4 weeks later. (or maybe they drop to 75% or 90%, and I just happen to miss them?). For other sections, such as holiday/seasonal, the cycle is 3 days instead of 2 weeks.

The trick is to figure out what day of the week your favorite store process clearance items. For me, its Mondays and Thursdays for toys, typically in the early morning. Then stop in that day each week to catch the best deals.

Happy Hunting.

Picked up the new King's Castle (yes, the one that just came out) for $49.98 and An Unexpected Gathering for $34.98. Those two and a $30 Galaxy Quest set were the only ones half off. Everything else 15% or 30%, but I'm not complaining.

What part of the country are you in? Do we have any correlation where the castle sets are on sale?

Quinjet dropped from $56 to $49.

79003 isn't even on the shelf here, nor is the Castle stuff.

Some of the Lone Ranger Sets were 30% off in the Braintree, MA Target.

79106 Cavalry Builder Set
79107 Comanche Camp
79111 Constitution Train Chase

I found Attack of the Wargs for 50% off (got the last one). Other miscellaneous items were 15-30% off.

I've also seen LEGO Games (Ninjago, Hobbit and City Alarm) for 15- 30% off at a few Targets.

Gotcha. That's what I figured based on some of the other stuff I remember seeing from a few days ago, but I wasn't diligent enough to go back and read any of the earlier posts today! Haha. Thanks!

I am in california - Near Sacramento - I have hit up Targets of a bunch of demographics and best deals were 30% on Quinn Jet, Mines of Moria and Forest Police station - No TMNT deals 15% on spiders and the wall section set.

Wish i could find some 50% or even 30% on new castle stuff.

natespizer, you need to keep checking. Here in New England there were only a few things at 15% the first week I checked. Last week I found a few of the items mentioned in this thread at 30%, some of which weren't even clearanced the previous week. I think they will eventually get around to marking down most of the items that people have seen in this thread, but not all at the same time or the same stores. I think the people who found the Castle items at clearance just got lucky.

Hit a few other Targets in the WI area - 70704 Vermin Vaporizer for $29.98! 9463 - $13.98, 31009 creator $17.48 (meh, with yoyo's sale), so hit and miss though, some 15% at one store, some 30% off. Never seen another Castle discount though, I think that one target that had it was a mistake.
