[USA] Target Clearance Finds Summer 2013

I haven't found any clearance Legos since 2 weeks ago. It's probably all gone at my place.

Sadly I think I missed the last markdown at Target. There were a few misc. toys, but no LEGO left. I need to do a better job of scheduling my vacation time! I picked up few things before I left, but that was at mostly at 30% off.

most items I was hiding at my targets now ring up as item not found. Upon taking them to the cashier they offer it up at 50% off... its last markdown... blah.

Surprisingly found 3 pirate ship ambush sets for 69.98.

I was able to get:

$69.98 LOTR Pirate ship ambush x2 (30% off)
$41.98 LOTR Black gate x2 (30% off)

It's like Christmas in August :)

What I noticed was that the markdown was not automatic. There needs to be product available on the shelf for them to scan to take it to the next discount level. Items that are hidden or lost in the store never get scanned and marked down farther. Items left on the shelf and get to 50% off are purchased really fast and don't last long. Less than 1/2 a day most of the time.

Shouldn't you specify how exactly you collect, to determine if 30% off is worthwhile? Some people like to build the sets. Some people like them for unique pieces or minifigures. Others like certain 'themes' as you alluded. And some like to buy for resale purposes. I get the impression that you are a builder and maybe collect with your family, but I am not sure.

I found the LOTR Pirate Ambush for 30% off also. I was debating, but I went ahead and bought it since it was the last one and ships seem to be pretty good sellers. The Black Gates had already been cleaned out.
I also want to let any members know who have not checked out the thread in the other Target deals that 3 of the larger sets have been discounted. Helm's Deep for $85, Goblin King for $65, and the Ghost Train for $54. These are probably better prices than many people may be able to find them for when they do get clearanced.

I was sort of talking out loud...you are right, my daughter and I build and collect a few themes. I do buy sets at a deep discount for parts, but I'm thinking 30% off is not deep enough!

The Palisades Mall, NY Target had the LotR Pirate Ship and Black Gate for 30 % off. One Gate and two Pirate Ships as of Sunday night.

It's definitely YMMV, some stores have them discounted, some don't.

BTW those prices are Price Cuts not clearance. Also, my Target has the Ghost Train for $52.

Pirate Ship and Black Gate at Palisades Mall were definitely not Price Cuts, they had the red clearance sticker. Helm's Deep was $85, that was a price cut.

The Lord of the Rings sets I found were marked with a clearance sticker, in the clearance end cap.
