LEGO Architecture Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (21004) - Ama

Post by calvinwashere2 » Thu Jun 10, 2010 8:53 pm

Got this for $31.78 from Amazon. There's also another dollar and change off of that price w/ a gold box deal, but that's a fleeting thing so YMMV...The price isn't great for these architecture series but this is the lowest I've seen for this set...still works out to be around 14 cents/piece though...

Well you aren't really buying it for the pieces though are you? I'd buy Fallingwater if my money wasn't so tight. Same with the Guggenheim. My favorite architect built them. Probably the only reason I want them.

Well for Fallingwater, I did buy it was the parts because there's a lot of those clear pieces in this set and all the tans are good for future house/city MOCs.

If you guys missed the goldbox...here's an even better deal and not have to wait for those goldbox deals to show up or worst disappear before you act on them...check this out...discounts on the whole series from DeepDiscount:

You can thank me later. :) I ended up ordering a second Fallingwater now that it's ~$70 because I like that model and this time it's not just for the parts. :D

My dear Calvin, thank you very very much. I'm going to order one of these immediately if I get the job I interviewed for :D I love Frank Loyd Wright but these sets were always a bit pricey for me.

You're welcome...glad to share my savings....though, all these "savings" is leading me to spend more....it's a double-edged sword isn't it?

I agree these architecture series is on the pricey side. I think it's because there're targeted towards adults so the prices are jacked up. Even the black box has a more "sophisticated" look to it, if one can describe it as such since at the end of the day they're all still just plastic bricks.

They are aimed at adults so the price is jacked up. The box does have a much nicer look to it though, doesn't it? It doesn't have a bunch of action shots on it though :)

You're right about the double-edged sword though...Target's sale a few weeks ago managed to separate me and about 40-50 or so of my dollars...True, I might have bought the sets later but the sale pushed me over the edge.
