BEWARE: Collectable Minifigures US Online Purchases

Post by legitimatealex » Wed Jun 09, 2010 1:28 pm

There is currently a problem in shipping in the US where the warehouse is sending out the same minifigure in each order. They are not random at all: you will receive all the same minifigure.

I contacted LEGO Shipping over this and the representative I spoke to didn't attempt to hide the problem. The warehouse that all the items ship out from is putting 5 of the same bags in each order. This representative said she had had the same conversation with 10 other people today who were calling to question the 'randomness' of the packages. She said I could return them for my money back or trade them but LEGO couldn't do anything besides that.

So this is a warning: unless you want 5 of the same minifigure, right now do NOT order collectable minifigures online in the US from LEGO.com.

US and Canada ship from same warehouse, so I expect Canada gets hosed too.

If you're in North America I'd be worried...At least I got a new, NEW minifigure. The person who called in behind me got 5 divers. Now that would have been infuriating.

I'm glad it worked out for you :D I've only managed to find two or three other people in my predicament, so maybe it was only with a few shipments from the warehouse out. I posted my story and what I heard from the representative just as a warning for others. I'm happy that this isn't the case with everyone.

Lego.com just shipped my order of 5 minifigs yesterday.
We will see what I get, hoping for at least 1 spaceman. I only need 1 more spaceman to have 3 complete sets.

Will lego cover the shipping cost to ship back to them?

Nope. And they want you to sent it with insurance. So it cost me $2.75 to send back my $1.99 duplicate Magician.

No, they wouldn't cover me shipping them back... It made it kind of pointless :? I've got another 5 coming today...I'll let you know how it turns out.

My order from Lego.com came in and...

2x Spaceman
1x Crash Dummy
1X Zombie
1x Clown

I am pretty happy with the results, glad I didn't get another Diver!

I'm happy to say that my newest shipment worked out great! 2 cheerleaders, 1 skater, 1 forestman, 1 ninja. Sadly still not the ones I really wanted (Caveman, Clown, Masked Wrestler), but at least they were all decent ones. I'm going for a whole set with some repeats (I don't care if i have repeats, I love having as many figs as possible) so I suppose I had to get them sooner or later!

Order away guys, LEGO fixed their screw up.

Thats plain stupid. Its their fault and they expected us to pay back with shipping? The price is not worth it, I rather order another minifigure then.

You got the rare minifigures. 2 cheerleaders are nice!

Oh and btw, I see alot of unhappy reviews at lego.com with the duplicate collectable minifigures. Thats the reason I see why only 83% would now recommend it.

No, there's still a limit. It's just a limit per order.

Exactly. If you wanted, say, 20 minifigures, you would have to place 4 different orders, 5 minifigures per order. It would be $15 per order ($10 for minifigures, $5 for shipping) and a total of $60 cost to you for 20 figures. If you managed to find these in stores, for $60 you could get 30 of them. But that's the real trick though: finding the in stores.

Also as an update to this I'd like to say that LEGO is sending me 3 free minifigures for my troubles. Worked out rather well I'd say :)

Yep. And I'm getting 2 freebies sent to me for mine. I will probably order 5 more today as I only need 6 more characters.

Just got my order yesterday and 5 spacemen is the result. Boo to that. Hopefully I can do a exchange since they are all sold out.
