I was at WalMart this morning. I scanned just about every set & nothing is on sale at my local store.

Definitely seems to be a smaller selection on sale this year, but Dino and older SW were ~50% here in So. Maine.

Also, SW polybags ( Star Destroyer, Tie Fighter) are $1. Looks like the early 2012 era Ninjago is all at 50% off

I went to a Super Walmart at 7am or so. I scanned several of the City sets and the 2 larger Avengers sets and they rang up normal. I did find the Star Wars Battle Pack 7914 for $6. Also found Series 8 figures for $1 each. They also had the Dino HQ for 50% off. I went to another Walmart and they had both the City forest police station and the Ninjago Ultra Sonic Raider for $54 (approximately 33% off). I did see that they had the Clone Trooper Battle Packs in the clearance area with a sign marked "$5 and under" but I didn't scan to confirm. Both Walmarts were pretty picked over for City, Ninjago and Dino sets. I did stop by 2 Targets and most of the Dino sets were 30% off but some of the sets appeared to be marked up before the discount was applied. I ended up buying the forest police HQ since 33% off was probably going to be the best deal I could find

Nothing in the NW suburbs of Chicago, as usual. One Ewok attack at 50%, but no other star wars sets were even left on the shelves, let alone on sale. Same for ninjago, nothing left.

Great find this year as well! Look for rural area walmart where people don't usually buy gift like that. They have the best sale.

1 walmart had 3 of the new friends set water pool club or something for 19.88

In Colorado, similar deals to those above, though results were pretty variable, one store had most of the items others have found, another across town had no lego clearance at all. At 3 stores, found zero ninjago sets, they must have sold well. Did find nearly a full case of Series 8 minifigs for $1 each, plus SW and various other polybags for $1.50. Some of the older Friends sets were 30 percent off, including the Beauty Shop, Dog Show and some of the smaller sets.

YMMV guys, good luck! there are deals to be had! there is more on clearance than I listed but I covered a good portion of it. I didnt have a chance to check out Spongebob to see if it was on clearance but there was no clearance on Monster fighters, Superheroes or LOTR so its a safe bet Walmart will continue to stock those themes.

Reselling is not as profitable as it once was.

We run one of the 10 largest US based stores on BL and even though we do not sell sets or "invest" in sets, we buy many sets from "resellers" who are trying to "invest" in Lego. Most of them are terrible at it and there are so many people doing it now that the market is quite soft. Our discussions usually go something like this...

"Aww....I bought 50 (insert set # here) for $50 each and I thought they would be worth $150 by now, but they are only worth $60 a year later. Now I am sure I want to invest in (another set # here) so can you get me out of these?"

And then a couple of months later....

"You remember those 50 (another set # here) I bought a while ago thinking they would skyrocket in value? Well they are only worth $5 more today, so are you interested in buying them so I can invest in (3rd set number here)?"

And on and on. I know that some people may not love the sources that say that reselling is soft (LFT for example), but I think they are right on the mark. It is incredibly tough to hit home runs in the reselling market anymore...they are out there, but they are about 10 to 1 against. (And most are not sold at WM or Target)

All that said, I still think the "resellers" (especially the CL and Ebay lot) will be out in force tomorrow trying to score $5 or $10 per set in profit.

To add to the clearance lists: the City Dump Truck rang up at $9, and I found some City Space Shuttles for $14.50. I also found some Millennium Falcons at $79.

At Thomas Rd in Phoenix picked up the following unmarked clearance from the regular Lego section:

4431 City Ambulance $9.50 was $19.97
4206 City Recycling Truck $14.50 was $29.97
7956 Star Wars Ewok Attack $12.00 was $24.97
7961 Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator $27.00 was $54.97

Bought one each of above, still had more. Store was pretty quiet, and as clearance was unmarked in regular section, didn't see anyone else buying. Seemed like all black topped SW sets were 50% off, only other one they had was Geonesian Starfighter 7959. Scanned various other sets, newer SW, LotR, Hobbit, City, didn't find any other clearance.
