Maersk Train $105 shipped at TRU.com

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.js ... Src=search" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

List price of $129.99, but it's eligible for the $25 off a $100+ order promo plus free shipping (and applicable sales tax). ebates has 8% back at TRU today, plus I suppose TRU rewards points have SOME value, and I know a lot of people were caught by surprise when this went 'sold out' at LEGO.com; this could be the best deal left on this set before it's aftermarket-only.

It's also being price-matched at Amazon.com for $104.99 shipped without tax for most states.

The emerald night (retired), Maersk train, and Horizon Express (coming soon) are the more detailed train sets Lego has ever created and are very collectible, over the simple city train line. They don't go on sale very often and rarely over 20 percent off.

Just built one of the three I have over the weekend and powered it...It's a really nice train and well worth $105.

Thanks for posting this. I had a chunk sitting in paypal so I was able to jump on this and since I'm in a state where Amazon has a warehouse I have to pay tax anyway so it worked as a wash. I was one of those shocked when it suddenly went sold out. I had 1 already but wanted a 2nd one.

Thanks OP.

Nope. Motorize your Maersk train by adding LEGO Power Functions #8878 Rechargeable Battery Box, #8887 Transformer 10V DC, #8884 IR Receiver, #8879 IR Speed Remote Control and #88002 Train Motor!

#8878 Rechargeable Battery Box and #8887 Transformer 10V DC can be replaced by #88000 Power Functions AAA Battery Box.

#8884 IR Receiver $15
#8879 IR Speed Remote Control $13
#88002 Train Motor $14
#88000 Power Functions AAA Battery Box $13
#7499 Flexible and Straight Tracks $20

So around $55 at RRP for the PF Functions parts and then add track on top of that.

You may want to start out with getting a complete train set such as the Yellow #7939 or Red #3677 Cargo Train to get you started. You can always take the PF Function parts from these sets and use them to power the Maersk. Plus you'll have some track to help get your layout started. You should be able to score a good deal on either Cargo set currently.

I've been using the Toys R Us $25 off $100 deal as basically 25% off w/ free shipping. I've put in two $100 orders in already.

As someone who new to Lego, I just can't afford this great looking train set and despite it going to be retire soon it just would cost too much to have tracks and the needed part to make it run.

I don't know about being rarely on sale as I have seen it plenty of time discounted. Too bad you have to buy all components separately to motorize it. I would buy another train set to get the extra tracks and motor for this train.

The Horizon Express that's coming out in Jan. looks cool too, so you can alway get on board (terrible pun intended, sadly) with the Lego trains when the time is right for your budget. Still going to be expensive though. Buying another train for the tracks and SOME of the correct power functions parts isn't a bad idea either

It was out of stock last night so I wasn't able to capitalize on their sale yesterday, and it seems that they are back in stock again (conveniently enough) but @ $129.99, it is also available on Amazon still for $119.99, out of stock at Target.com (priced $113.99) and now out of stock at Walmart.com (priced $109.97).

The TRU site still advertises $25 off $100 lego purchase (@ reg price) but all I'm getting is the free shipping when I add it to my basket.
