Just got an email "reminding" me that I was invited (to the Sherway store in Toronto) on Saturday... haven't received anything in the mail yet though... going to call the store to check, but has this happened to anyone else?

Good idea, but my address seems right. My guess is that because I'm in Canada, maybe the mail is taking a little longer to get here - from what I can see, the first person to mention getting an invite by mail in this thread was on Nov 9.... so it might just be delayed...

At any rate, I did call the store and they confirmed I'm on the list and good to go.

What kind of discounts did they have in-store last year, beyond the 10/20/50 coupon?

EDIT: nevermind, found last year's thread here: http://www.toysnbricks.com/forums/viewt ... f=6&t=4405" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Does the VIP invitation mention anything about waiving the $99 limit to receive the bonus holiday set?

I went to my store this morning. I got 20% off, but they didn't have the Haunted House in stock. I ended up with the Halloween Accessory set and two keychains. They gave a free pick a brick box at the door.

Was able to get 3 hh, spent about $750 in all. My sons had a great time filling pick a brick boxes. Was a bit of drive to get there, store staff nice people and some free giveaways, added up to a fun start to day at mall!

Ehh, I am not really seeing the big benefit here? So they give you a free PAB box and on average, a 20% discount? Big whoopty doo, Amazon and other retailers regularly offer 25%+ discounts on things if you just wait around a bit, and they are offered all year long.

While I love the Lego store cause I think it's a fun little place to visit, they aren't exactly the best deals around. The 5% back through the VIP is nice, but really it's not enough incentive for me to ever shop there

On average, it was more like a 10% discount. No one pulled a 20% or a 50% off card at my store.

That is the lamest "sale" I have ever seen. 5% off on Black Friday? Really?

You fail LEGO, you fail.

Yeah, pretty weak. I have to laugh at the Star Wars advent calendar. Perhaps if you didn't overprice it so much it might sell better and you wouldn't need to put in on sale to get it to move. Nothing else really jumps out at me.

I think LEGO overpriced it on purpose, just to stick it on sale. They have known to have done that in the past with sets.

Avent Calendars were $15 and have gone up $5 every year as the piece count has dropped. There is no need for that. They shouldn't be more than $30.

Is this online only or are these the sale in the retail store as well?

Advent calendar is a must get at 50% off, but rest is meh.

50% of sets that are really old or overpriced, and 20% or less off on any remotely new sets. Ya, that's pretty lame considering you can almost always get sets for 20% off if you just look around for deals on TRU or Amazon.

You guys are forgetting to add the additional 10% off of the 20% when you spend > $150. So you are getting 28% off. I know that this doesn't compare to last year's BF, but between Red Cargo Train, Mini Modulars, and the free Winter set, I will still be making a purchase or two.

Yep and Amazon doesn't have sales tax in 41 states so that makes t an even better deal. My state tax is 6.25%, so if it's 15% off on Amazon it's really over 20% off and free shipping.

I would even take old sets 30% off, this has nothing going for it. It's junk (not sets) and Star Wars for almost nothing off. And maybe it's just me, but I don't spend $150 on a LEGO sale this bad to get another 10% off.
