They won't let you do that.

It works if you return it to Costco. :P

Why Costco? Since it is a membership business, they can easily see that you didn't have it in your purchase history. Plus it will not have their SKU sticker on it if you said it was a present. I guess if you spend enough money there and you have a good buy/return ratio, they'll let you. But they will sell it for $4-$5 less than Gamestop.

Since I want this game anyway, I'll be willing to legitimately buy it at Gamestop. I wish Amazon had the same promo so I can skip the tax. Although I wish it was a full ~$5 polybag set to make it worth it. Or make a $20 exclusive set and sell it as a $70 LE (going all the way). Otherwise, I would Gamefly the game and do a Keep It for $35.

I had pretty good luck buying the DS version of Batman 2 for the Lex fig and then flipping the game on half.com for RRP. Made the Lex figure only about $5, after accounting for tax/shipping/fees.

I say Costco because they will accept any returns...receipt or not....no questions asked. One time they asked me if I bought an item at Costco...and I felt bold enough to say. "No I did not". They still accepted the return.

Target lets you return a few things a year without a reciept....but they will most likely have this item on sale for %10 to %15 dollars off...as will TRU.

I see that EB games in Canada shows the pre-sale, but no mention of the mini figure. Any word on the exclusive mini figure for Canada?

If you buy multiple copies, will you receive multiple minifigures?

Woo hoo! Totally want this game, and MUST have that Elrond minifig. These Lego games on the Wii are actually the only games I play these days.

Yep. You can buy multiple games. I did it for Lex, and just sold the game on eBay for retail.

when lex luthor came out, a bunch of people preordered the fig, returned the game no problem. just a heads up. that is what i will probably do, then wait for the game to drop in price a few months later.

That only works so many times before the companies start catching on to that trick.

Thing is, there's not a lot they can do about it. You legally were paying for the game, not the figure. It was just a bonus for preordering. They can't ask you to return a bonus incentive, really. As long as the product itself, the game, is still sealed, they must accept the return.

With all that said, TT's Lego games are always good, so that's reason enough to just keep and play the thing.

I preordered the 360 and 3DS versions. (I will actually keep both.)
Maybe I will part with one Elrond. The Lex Luthor goes for ~$20 these days. I would think Elrond would be more desirable because there is a Lex Luthor available in a $20 set.

If you get the DS version of the game for $30+tax, you could sell the game for $20+ and sell Elrond for $20+ each. Theoretically profiting $10+ each, but you'll be lucky to clear $10 after fees.

If they were smart they would discount the game $10 and sell the minifig for $10, similar to the way LEGO shop online does for their free bonuses. Lego did this with the free hulk minifig, on the invoice it had a price so that if you returned your purchases and kept the minifig you would be charged for it. (hope that makes sense)
