Target - Summer Clearance

Checked out 1 of 2 Targets. Some were on clearance. No exciting ships for me tho. So I didn't bother going to the other one.

Woburn MA Target had 2 Pod Racers for $76 (or 15% off).

I saw Minotaurus and Heroica: Fortaan on clearance for what looked to be 30% off at my local Target. Not sure if I want to wait on these.

I found the pod racers set at a local target for $63 today - 30% off. They also had the bounty hunter gunship for $35 (I've seen that one for $35 at some targets and $42 at another, so really is random). Harry Potter was only 15% off (and the base price appeared to be marked up).

Found Millennium Falcons marked down %15 off from a base price 140ish, still not a good deal for that one.

Online, some sets have "price cut". A whopping 50 cents! Why even bother to do that?

A very strange sale indeed. Some of these I'm expecting to move to 'clearance'. Then it will be more interesting.

I saw Heroica: Waldurk for 11$ at my local Target in Nutley. No Millennium Falcon's on clearance unfortunately.

Very disappointing clearances by me, max is at about 15%. Lots of sets were overpriced and then clearanced. Boo.

This is by far the worst Target Clearance I've ever seen in 10+ yrs......

Does anyone know for sure if Target still does their mark downs on Thursday's? I don't want to waste a trip if I don't have to. I agree that most sets I see marked down are really not in my "want" category. If something goes to 50-60% off I might buy it to part out for other things.

The Targets in my area seem to have their mark downs on Sunday. But I think different areas have different methods. I'm around Sacramento, CA.

As for worst mark downs I've found one of the worst.

PotC Black pearl was priced at the Queen Anne's price of $119.99. Then it is marked down to around $108.

That's right, I can get a -8% savings that ends up costing more.

The same store did the same thing with the HP Knight Bus. I think it's sitting at $43 discounted.

I tried talking with the employees, but they really could care less and would prefer to let it sit on the shelf at the wrong price than do anything about it. :(

I'm in Sacramento too, passed over several of that Black Pearl farce. I did pick up a couple Destiny's Bounties for the decent price of $55.xx, plus the Target card 5% off at the Sunrise Greatland. I've seen it for $67 at most Targets.

As for the days Target does does their further reductions, it's different for every store--not that there's a day for every Target in a week, but if you can figure out what day your store does it, you can pretty well time the next mark down. And, for the record, whatever an employee, even a manager tells you is the day they do their price changes, that is NOT necessarily the same day they do clearance...

The whole mark-up-to-fake-a-markdown is maddening, just garbage.

I just saw several of the star wars planet/ sebulba's racer sets at my target marked down to $8.53. The funny part was that the sticker stated the original price of $12.19- I wonder where did this price come from? A quick math equation shows that 30% off of 12.19 yields a final price of 8.53! And yes they had several of the tie fighter and naboo sets still price marked for $9.99! I think that defines a "mark-up to a fake markdown!" Although, to be fair, it is still 15% off...

My local store finally marked down from 15-20% off to 30% off on most of its clearance LEGO, I think probably earlier today. Sadly, a lot of stuff sold at 20% off, so there's not much left (apart from the smaller AC sets). I found one remaining Destiny's Bounty marked down to $55 that I picked up tonight since I don't think it will still be there at 50% off. The 2 other Targets I visited last week had nothing marked down apart from one of the smaller AC sets. Looks like there will be little joy around here for the big summer clearance.
