Had to use price scanner it to see discounted price. It was still tagged at $40.

So this wasn't one of Kmart's advertised get an additional 50% off clearance items? Were there any other LEGO clearance items?
I don't know if it was advertised as I haven't seen a KMart ad recently. I think it was just luck that I was there, saw the set in the back of the discount shelf and scanned it. I scanned other City sets, both big and small, and there weren't any other deals there.

Not a store deal (although the 50% off at Barnes and Nobles for Black Friday was amazing)... I buy a lot of LEGO off Craigslist.

A while back, I picked up 2 boxes of Star Wars LEGO (about 20lbs) for $60. I was able to build the following complete sets:

8039- Venator
7662- Federation MTT
7259 - Arc-170 Starfighter
8018 - Armored Assault Tank (AAT)
7672 - Rogue Shadow
7669 - Anakin’s Jedi Starfighter
8086 – Droid Tri-Fighter
7681 – Separatist Spider Droid
7261 – Clone Turbo Tank
7675 – AT-TE Walker
7877 – Naboo Starfighter
7656 – General Grievous Starfighter
7666 – Hoth Rebel Base

And a lot more incomplete sets that I was able to part out. I still talk and dream about this score. It made my year. :-D

Awesome find, Littletoki! Good price too. Were there manuals for all those sets?

^^ Man, the people that sell such a large amount of Lego like that must be really desperate to get a rid of it in a hurry, and at such a low price too, lol. Nice score!

Unfortunately, no. I used the pdf's from Brickset and it's almost impossible to see the black bricks properly. But honestly, I'm not complaining because I usually pay between $5-7/lb for LEGO off Craigslist. So, this was an epic win!

I'm not sure if it's desperation or just plain ignorance. I saw an ad for 100 lbs of LEGO that a woman was selling for $225. Her kids had grown and she just wanted them out of the house. I emailed her immediately but someone beat me to the punch.

Perhaps people know how much they're worth but feel the years that have been put into them will diminish their return. Probably a hint of ignorance too. :P I saw Diagon Alley on Craigslist for 45 dollars but the person never got back to me. A lady was also selling a tote full of lego for 80 dollars. It had only been up for a couple hours but I was number two and the first person never fell through. BOO!

They go quick at steal-able prices.

Picked up 7597 Western Train Chase from Wal-Mart tonight for $20. Apparently it was on clearance, but was not marked.

I'd like to announce an "anti steal of a deal" ... a situation where I spent WAY more than the sane mind should approve of ... but if you ask me? Worth every penny. In an unfortunate situation, a long-time LEGO collector's husband was involved in an accident - requiring her to liquidate a collection that seems to have been in full swing throughout the 90's. I grabbed several mid-90s Technic models in the $30 - $60 range, being sold at the original RRP - but the grab I'm most proud of was a mint/sealed 8880 for $350. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

And I guess to sway back on topic, there were the two purchases I made for my two nephews' Christmas presents this year:

nephew #1: 4184 The Black Pearl - @ Target 50% clearance = $50
nephew #2: 4195 Queene Anne's Revenge - @ Barnes & Noble 40% coupon = $72

Those little *#$@!** better appreciate their uncle!!!!

I have a dream every now and then, about finding an old exclusive LEGO set, such as the Metroliner, at a thrift store. Someday, I'm going to have a post here saying I found that Metroliner MISB for only 10 bucks. LOL  We can always dream right?

Anything is possible. My mom recently found a My Little Pony from 1988 new in package, with the price tag still on it from a chain that went bankrupt over 20 years ago. It makes you wonder where that toy has been for the last 23 years. When I go to thrift stores all I find is junk. I guess you gotta have good timing for deals like that.

I once went to a Goodwill just for the heck of it and right on top of a clothing rack was a MISB Legoland semi tractor. Set 3442 for only $2.99. Needless to say I quickly bought it. I gave it to my oldest son for xmas that year.

He is from: Location: Baltimore, MD

and the Dojo as well as Target Practice & Harry Potter Polybags are a dead-give-away that it was from Target.

Unless he picked them up from some other city. Definitely from Target though.
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

Got it, thanks! I knew he was in Baltimore because of the listed location, but couldn't figure out the store.
