[USA] Walmart Black Friday 2011

Post by toystest » Mon Nov 21, 2011 12:08 pm

The 5512 LEGO XXL Box is listed in the Walmart Black Friday circular for only $30. That's 1600 pieces at a little under 2 cents a piece! This sale starts the 24th at 10pm.

I'm a newbie at this, is this going to be online, or do I need to go to the store on Black Friday to get this? I have a 5 yr old who is just starting his Lego collecting, and I'd love to get a big, basic set for him.

This might get online, but it will sell out VERY quickly, and we won't know what time this deal will go live online. So your safest bet would probably to go to your local walmart.

I found two of the duplo sets in Dallas,TX tonight @ $30. No sign of the regular blocks. I couldn't tell if they were put out by mistake or it was a normal item and $30 just happens to be 'everyday low price'...

I got 3 boxes of them. They were just out on the floor by furnitures.

I am not able to purchase this online (yet?), and it says no Walmart within 50 miles of me has it.

You can now get them online. No need to go to the stores. :)

I ordered one on-line with 97 cents shipping, better than fighting the crowds AND I don't have to even go there later to pick up!

I picked up one during black Friday...just went to another Walmart and they still had 10 our so left.... Its a great deal but the parts are average pieces so I couldn't talk myself into buying any more....

Curious as to what others are gonna do with multiples
I have mixed feelings about new releases: I can't wait to see and get the new sets... but I can't figure out where I'm gonna put them or store them.

I got a total of 8 of these boxes. I just came out of the dark ages one and a half years ago so these are a very good collection builder, even if they are common pieces. The ones I'll never use I'll throw on bricklink.

Went around the store and finally spotted a woman with a few in her cart.
"I can't find those anywhere. Where did you get them?" I asked.
"I got here like two hours ago and there were two pallets up near the front of the store." she replied, "They went really fast."
Then I was in my funk. Nothing looked good. The one thing I had come for was not even there. Purchasing something else was meaningless. I needed my fix.
So my wife and I were walking around the store, waiting for the 12am sale-as we had one electronic item we wanted to purchase. We had finished the sale and were walking around the regular areas of the store where no one was. A lot of people had dropped sale stuff everywhere. There were DVDs and toys and crap underfoot and where they shouldn't be-stuffed haphazardly. Then my wife said those magical words: "Um, Jared-what is this?"
And there it was! Kicked under a rack of baby clothes-one lonely Duplo XXL box-and it was all mine. My mood shifted to the stars. I hugged the box close and became a human being with a good attitude once again. My son will be happy this Christmas.

Have a safe holiday season.
Jared

Went to Walmart on Black Friday and they had plenty of the XXL's. I passed on it and we returned today (Saturday) I saw sitting on top of some boxes in the Garden section a Lego XXL box, I grabbed it, scanned it, $30! We passed by toys and they had another box stuck in a go-back cart. Online says our Mt. View store is sold out, yet a couple missplaced ones remained. So if you want one, keep checking the go-back carts as some loose ones may turn up. Looks like the price went up to $39 at Walmart online. (Still a good deal)

I saw that the product description for this set says it includes an "inspirational idea booklet" All mine came with was 14 bagged multi colored Lego bricks, No booklet. Anyone get a booklet with theirs?
