Lego store in Rockefeller Center has Lots of solar sailors, pirate tanks, and only 2 Venators for 50% off (plus the NYC markup of $5 per set)

@Brixster: I was in NYC at the Lego store over Thanksgiving and noticed the markup there. I thought it was just because I was there on Black Friday. Is the markup all the time there? It looked like more than a flat $5 on the bigger sets. Maybe 5-10%?

Mahattan TRU I think also marks up higher than other TRUs. The real estate is expensive.

The TRU Times Square markup is pretty extreme, about 15-20%. I snapped some photos of it recently, you can see them (and prices) here:

Examples:
Death Star: $463.99
Kingdoms Castle: $121.99

The CMFs3's are selling for $3.49 at the Lego store in Rockefeller center. The markup at this store is probably 5-10% per set. With the 50% off it made sets about $5 more than elsewhere. Can't remember the exact prices, but I think the Pirate Tank was $24.98, the Solar Sailor was $34.98, and the Venator was $64.98. Next time, I'm going out to Queens. ;)

wow the TRU actually has the DS sets in stock and on the shelves. Mine never did, only an emtpy box with a sign that says to order at the desk. I now also know that some of those online TRU deals may actually be scoreable in NY. No stores in AZ that I know of actually carry these larger sets.

I would not be surprised if that's the only TRU in the country that carries the large large sets simply because of its location.

I did find a carousel at the Camp Hill TRU and I assumed it was a returned item bought from the website, but who knows. This was during one of the BOGOS in early December, but there was nothing else remotely close in price to make its purchase worth it, at $250.

the mark up is probably because of the city tax. the other thing is also there are lots of rich folks in manhattan, hence they can easily afford what takes effort for the rest of the country. time is also more valuable to these folks, hence would they rather take a cab to queens or buy from times sq for 5%-10% more?

This TRU flagship store is smack right in the center of Times Square, 2 blocks from where the New Years ball drops. More tourists then locals at any given time in there. There's a FULL size ferris wheel in here along with a FULL size T-Rex that moves and roars!!

Surprised at the higher markups? No...hate it? Hell yeah! )))

Did everyone get their 7637 Farm set? They sent me the wrong one! They sent 7684, Pig Farm and Tractor instead and still charged me the $44.95 :(

I called and the sales rep said she'd try calling actual stores to see if she can find one, but I'm not hopeful at this point. I had called them late last night (9pm) when I opened the package and she said she'd return my call by today.

I wonder if Lego will do anything besides just refunding my $ and having me return the set. This is very disappointing!

Got my Farm today. Sorry to hear so many of you are getting orders canceled or getting the wrong thing. It's like S@H is taking a page from TRU's book on how to disappoint & frustrate LEGO fans...
