Too Good to be True??

Post by craan » Sat Jan 31, 2015 4:11 pm

Well, this is not my auction, so please don't think that I am promoting it.

I stumbled across this and obviously the old addage "too good to be true comes to mind" but with ebay buyer protection, I wonder if it is worth a shot?

I messaged the buyer and got no response. I did a historical search and similiar auctions have popped up over the last couple days with the same price point and a huge number of sales. So I just don't know what to think...

50 bucks free shipping for the Death Star… I know I must be crazy for even being temped as it is likely a scam..

any advice or thoughts?

First thoughts are that he put in the wrong price (should be $500 not $50). It probably is a scam. You'll get an empty box or a picture of the Death Star. :) But yeah, very tempting.
Who is General Failure and why is he reading my hard disk?

All his feedback is over a year old, he isn't really selling anything else, and it seems like all his Death Stars have been sold really recently. Seriously doubt this guy is shelling out legit Death Stars. But if $50 is nothing to you, definitely worth the chance if it pays out. Looks like the auction conveniently ends right before the earliest shipping will get it to you, so we wouldn't be able to hear from anyone who orders it whether it was a scam or not.

The listing has since been removed. Looks like eBay got wise to their ways.
