Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
Hey folks! Super excited to walk into my Wal-Mart tonight to find one Artic Base Camp in the clearance section. Ran it through the price checker to find it was... full price. Asked the manager about it - she was most helpful and apologetic, saying that there are items that are discontinued, but not discounted. She said if it was on sale online, she could price match, but otherwise, there was nothing she could do. What, if anything can I do from this point? Been wanting this set for the pups, but I'm not ready to pay full price. Thanks much for any advice!
Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
If all you want are the pups then buy the $40 set from Target. It's on sale for 20% off this week for $32.

Or if you really, really, really just want the dogs, you can order them directly from Lego for $2 a piece. I might just do that and return the Helicrane sets I bought.
Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
Still learning here... you mean the same dogs from this set? I see some other dogs on Pick a Brick. Is there another way?videriant wrote:Or if you really, really, really just want the dogs, you can order them directly from Lego for $2 a piece. LEGO has the replacement brick in case your set is missing a piece, you use that and LEGO charges you because you aren't missing anything. It's different than the official pick-a-brick.nateeide wrote:Still learning here... you mean the same dogs from this set? I see some other dogs on Pick a Brick. Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
Can you purchase minifigures for sets in this manner?
Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
Some, but most of the time no. There are certain pieces Lego will never allow you to purchase. I think body, leg, and head pieces that are common across many sets are purchase-able whereas unique pieces are not.
EDIT: Just for kicks, I decided to see what you could purchase from the Elsa Castle set.
Elsa hair - $2.40
Elsa head - n/a
Elsa body - $2.03
Elsa legs - $2.21
Anna hair - n/a
Anna head - $2.52
Anna body - $1.99
Anna legs - $2.14
So you can purchase a lot of parts but you can't get a full figure. And the parts aren't cheap. Almost $9 to build a figure.
EDIT2: Oops, $9 is the price of a mini-doll. A minifigure, if buildable, is around $4-$6.

Interesting. Thanks

Wow! This changes everything!!! I had no idea. I'll be online all night combing through rare and semi rare available parts. Thank you!Brick & Blue wrote:LEGO has the replacement brick in case your set is missing a piece, you use that and LEGO charges you because you aren't missing anything. found two creator cats for 9.00
Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
There was a $35 Milano at the Brooklyn Wal-Mart tonight (about an hour ago) where the Lego section ends. The seals looked okay but the box was looking a bit shabby. I hope someone gets it-it looks like a nice set.

It's the beginning of the month, so new clearance money should have come from the walmart gods, I'm heading to a local after class to see if they marked down the turtles and creator that's been sitting there for a while
Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
Heres hoping for some new markdown.
I did find a Duplo 200 piece tower at a walmart yesterday for $ 7.00, building a good set for the son to play with when hes old enough.

Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
5 Wal-Marts in my town. 4 of them are pretty much wiped clean. The 5th one (which happens to be a fairly new store - not sure if that makes a difference) is sitting on piles of Chima, City and a few TMNT in their clearance aisle and are maybe 20% off at best. Their prices haven't changed in at least 3 weeks. It's driving me crazy.
Re: Walmart winter/spring clearance 2015
Well this was...unexpected. Here are some sets I found today at the Wal-Mart in Lisbon:
Battle for Ninjago City 119.97
Super Secret Police Dropship 59.00
Chima Fire Temple 89.00
Ninjago Mechdragon 64.00 (between 5 and 10 left)
Hobbit Unexpected Gathering 54.00 (20 left -whole top shelf of the section)
I haven't seen the Hobbit set in a while so if you missed it 20% off a retired set doesn't seem so bad. The sets on sale are located in the first or second aisle of toys halfway down.
Have fun,
Jared

Saw a Harry Potter Hagrid's Hut of all things, for $19. Debating going back for it after seeing what it goes for in the aftermarket, but I'm too lazy, and not a reseller. :)
