Target Summer Clearance 2014?

I checked a number of Target stores over the past week. Most had everything listed in this thread but only at 30% off. Nothing at 50%. There were a few Millenium Falcons at the stores so I went back to check the price yesterday and they were gone. Everything else was still 30% off.

I went back out again to see which City sets I could find. I think they had them on sale last week which is why they were postponed being cleranced until this week. Here is what I bought - all at 50% off.
Fire Station $49.98
Fire Emergency 60003 $19.98
Stunt Plane $9.98
Cargo Terminal $49.98
Cargo Truck $17.50
Police Pursuit 4437 $8.48
and the recently released Arctic Helicrane $19.98 ... I assume this must have been mismarked because it did not ring up at the register, but they did an override.
I also found a couple more that I hadn't seen earlier:
Castle forest ambush at 50% off for $5.98
and a Ninjago Kai's Fire Mech for 6.98 at 30% off, which I went ahead and got since there was only one left.
I also saw the Starter set w/fire crew, the Grand Prix truck, spider droid and a couple of other sets for 30% off, completely YMMV with some sets on clearance between 30-50% off at some stores and not at others.
Alot of the good stuff will be gone by this afternoon so hunt quickly.

Just picked up a bunch of 31015 Emerald Express sets for $3.48 and a few 4437 Police Pursuit sets for $8.48. the targets I went to had TONS of the 4437 sets.

When I looked on Saturday at my local store (Ross PA) everything was 30%. I checked today (Monday) at another store (McCandless PA) and there were a few 50%s including a bunch of Chimas. I picked up Cargo terminal at 50%.

BTW, I noticed that the "original" price on some of the clearance stickers is jacked up. Cargo terminal, for example, was listed over $100 in the before price. Are Target going TRU, or is this a mistake?

This is something Target has been doing for a few years. They will raise the retail price on clearance items then discount them. Pretty dirty if you ask me but people are still buying.

More discounts today! The most surprising thing was sets that were not discounted at all suddenly jumping to 50% off, like:

Star Wars Corporate Alliance Tank Droid
TMNT Shredder's Dragon Bike
Ninjago The Golden Dragon (was actually $12.48, because Target had lowered the original price to $25)
City Grand Prix Truck
Creator Family House

Some previously discounted sets were just now at 50%, like Hero Factory Jet Rocka.
Previously discounted Chima stuff was still only at 30%, along with the $50 Man of Steel set.

YMMV: tonight there were only the same few 30%-offs as previous weeks, and nothing else at 50% yet.

All the Targets I went to today didn't mark any previous clearance down but marked a few new ones 30% off. It looks like its going to be a free for all next Thursday as everything should get marked down to 50 or 70%. Looks like its gonna be go time so I'll have to bring my mace. Black Thursday here I come.

Stopped by the local Target and see they have a couple Family Houses (31012). 30% OFF. So I pick up the two boxes and the weirdest thing.....the 2nd box weighed about 1/3 of what the first one did. Checked all the seals they all seemed to be intact. So some poor fool is going to get a house shorted some pieces.

picked up the TMNT shredder's dragon bike and the chima cragger command ship, both 50% off. Wasn't going to get the command ship since I passed on it a few times at 50% but olive green boat proved to great a temptation. Still seeing Smallville and Castle Cavalry at 30%, just about everything else is gone.

Found a few City sets at 70% off at one or two of the Phoenix stores still, but most every other clearance has been cleared out and the new Star Wars sets are in their places.

I made the rounds to see if I could scavenge up some of the remaining sets that dropped to 70% off.
All of the larger sets were long gone, but I did pretty well on the smaller ones.

I think a lot of stores were hit hard already by bargain hunters. I know the one nearest me started at 50% off and got cleaned out pretty quickly. The clone brick sets are still fairly plentiful though.

Same. It's not that we're not finding them, the store(s) just don't even have that stock any more. I'm kind of surprised you're still finding that much available wherever you are, to be honest.

I think you guys are right. It seems like Target is dropping to 50% off quicker, but taking longer for that last drop to 70% so that most of the stuff is gone by then. I seems the only reason that I found so much is that I knew exactly which sets were on clearance so that I did not have to waste much time scanning and could hit as many stores as possible in a short amount of time. At least half of the ones I bought were not stickered. I also got lucky and arrived a couple stores just as they were starting to mark them down.

Since the clearance is almost over and most sets are gone, here are my findings.

Target was very generous with me and for about $470 all, I have:

1- 7965: Millennium Falcon x2.
2- 75021: Republic Gunship x3.
3- 75017: Duel on Geonosis x3.
4- 75003: A-wing Starfighter x2.
5- 70008: Gorzan's Gorilla Striker x4.
6- 31012: Family House x3.
7- 628: X-Large Baseplate Grey x5.

8- 70806: Castle Cavalry x1. (for my son, I wish I could have found 1 more for me!)
9- 70809: Lord Business' Evil Lair x2.

Some will be put together, others will be for my LOTR future MOCs.
