As in MSRP $30.00. Walmart price $29.97. Clearance price $29.94. Whoopie!

Many of my best WalMart scores over the years had no clearance stickers at all. For one thing, that makes them more likely to stay on the shelves because noobs don't know to scan it all when a sale is in the air. Make the NSA motto your motto: YES, WE SCAN!

The fact is that LEGO sells really well and stores have limited mark down budgets. It's easier to keep LEGO at a higher price and mark something else down that needs a lower price to sell.
I know the clearance sticker was old, but that's the thing. They had so many Mirkwood Spider sets it was silly. They have sets like this over a year old that have been sitting there forever with a dollar off clearance. Shouldn't they be marking these down by now to the 30-40% others are seeing so they can actually move them? I mean people see relatively new sets like Black Gates for $40, yet my Wal-Marts have Goblin King Battle, Warg Attack, and Mirkwood Spider all full MSRP or near it with a dollar off "clearance". Some stores sell out of these sets so I understand them not being there, but why keep a 14 month old set nearly full price when they have so many collecting dust on shelves? Meanwhile they have like no new sets from the past couple months.

Noticed Walmart started moving there red tagged set to the clearance section.
Got a few :)

$29 Hive Crawler (59% off)
$16 Castle Gatehouse (47% off)
$30 Colby city (40% off)
$8 Castle Ambush (33% off)

Also saw:

Was this today? And what is your location? I went to walmart yesterday and all the items that were on clearance last week were back to full price.

Hi Lego the Hut,

This happened to few stores in SoCal, looking at those stores none of them had completed their reset (like 1/2 finished organizing their new products). It really seems to vary with the store manager when exactly to reset as half of mine in the area, have not (and never even had red tags either).

Went to a few Walmarts today and prices were all the same as in this thread. Except I found 3 Blackgates for $15 in Greenville, NC. I couldn't believe it. Best deal I've ever found.

No further discounts other than the standard ones mentioned. What's frustrating is they have 1 Jabba's Barge in the clearance section with a red sticker at 119.96 which scans at that price too. >_<

My hunch that all the sets had been moved to the back (I knew for a fact that they had not sold the same Spongebob sets that had been there for three years, and various other shelfwarmers) was confirmed last week when I watched the employees pull out several pallets and unbox clearance toys. However, it was only a small fraction of what I know they must have, apparently limited by the size of the two small shelf islands they had allocated for clearance. Very little was LEGO, and the sale was very poor, 30% or less. I know they are still sitting on a huge amount of stuff that they yanked mysteriously after New Years. The question is when they will bring it out and slap a price on it that will actually move the merch. It is definitely a regional thing, all five walmarts in my area had exactly the same assortment of Man of Steel and Iron Man 3 crapola. That probably means all five of them are piled with loot in the back. Only question is whether I will catch the right timing when they finally decide to blow it all out at 70% off. The resets are a mess too, random new sets slapped in among a smattering of survivor sets with little rhyme or reason.

The reason is the Manager is trying to load his loss into one quarter in order to maximize his bonus.

Found Hobbit Unexpected Gathering sets at Walmart for $30. Bought 2 and left 1 on the shelf.

At another Walmart, the Forrest Police Station was 50% off last Thursday with a lot on the shelf. Today, the price jumped back up to $80. Bought 1 for a friend at $40. Now I'm wishing I had picked one up for myself too.

They have been shuffling their toy section at my Walmart with some sets mentioned here with the same clearance prices. I had a feeling they would have some Republic Gunships in the back so I kept checking after work just in case and scored 1 for $79 tonight. They have 1 left. Very happy right now.

My local WM just reset their toy section with Lego and action figures in the same section....looks like all the clearance legos have been boxed up to be brought out for Christmas left overs....

Walmart @ northern L.A. county - 1731 E Avenue J, Lancaster, CA 93535

Today, this store has several boxes of each set listed below (boxes are in good condition), languishing in the toy clearance section. Saving comes up to around 30-40% MSRP.

I am just amazed at the sheer abundance of them stacked willy nilly with all dolls, puzzle, nerf and o ther toys clearance etc.
(it is not my neighborhood walmart; I'd wish mine has tons of Lego boxes in clearance like this).

Castle
70400 - $7
70401 - $13
70402 - $21

Galaxy Squad
70706 - $13
70702 - $21
70708 - $35

Star Wars
75016 - $21

Hobbit
79001 - $21

LOTR
79005 - $9

Chima
70006 - $54
