August 2010 Calendar (US)
There are just a few deals mentioned on the calendar they were passing out at the store so I thought I'd take some crummy pictures with my cell phone and post them here :P Like I have a real camera...
First, here is an overall shot.
The big deal here with the coupon is 50% off the Build A Mini 3 Pack with a $50+ purchase. It's $10 regularly so its $5 off.
The August monthly build will be a duck (how quaint). Too bad we're probably too old for this and I don't have any children to exploit (perhaps I could borrow my niece).
HERO Factory available August 1st in stores.
Also note that there is a sale on two $10 sets between the 23 and 26 of August. It is the gas station and the home building set. They will be $5 each during this time.
At the top of the page it also mentions VIP members getting an extra 50 VIP points when they purchase the LEGO Airport set from online or in store. That's half of the 100 pt requirement for a free $5 so if you're planning on purchasing that set, might as well wait for the first week of August.
I don't know if this has been posted anywhere else yet. I hope not.
Good luck.

Lego being cheap with the coupons now. No more freebies.. The Build A Mini 3 Pack was free back in february. Sure we spend half the amount but its still a better deal when we can get it for free with $100 purchase.
Re: August 2010 Calendar (US)
How is $100 a better deal than $55? Take it another way: If you spend only $10 more this time around, you get twice as many minifigures.Eddy976 wrote:Sure we spend half the amount but its still a better deal when we can get it for free with $100 purchase.
$100 in February = 3 minis
$110 in August = 6 minis
Any way you slice it, it's a better deal in August. Just because something is "free" (with purchase...) doesn't necessarily mean it's a good deal.

They're also some pretty cute sets. I have the house one and it comes with some fun pieces and 2 minifigs for $10, and the price per piece is way lower than other sets, mostly because they're just regular bricks. They also have light blue and lime green pieces mixed in there which I like : )

Actually it's pretty much even since the minifigure 3 pack costs $10, soEddy976 wrote:Oops, didn't know what I was thinking. My bad. ;)vynsane wrote:How is $100 a better deal than $55? It just makes it a bit easier this time around since the minimum you need to buy is $50.

Well, yeah, that's what happens when you cut the deal in half. 50% on one side = 50% on the other side.gunoz wrote:Actually it's pretty much even since the minifigure 3 pack costs $10, so

1/2 = 2/4 = 4/8 = 8/16 (I could do this all day, literally).
Anyway, 'easier' is an understatement. It makes it CHEAPER, which is, obviously, better.

Re: August 2010 Calendar (US)
Are the figures cheap quality like magnets?
Re: August 2010 Calendar (US)
No, the build-a-minifigure station is filled with standard figure parts, usually from TOWN/CITY sets, but we've seen PIRATES and now CASLE/ninja figure pieces as well. I also saw one guy on flickr who found a bunch of Harry Potter pieces and black fedoras!
Also, an interesting thing to note: It's not necessarily 3 full minififgures, it's $10 for 15 pieces. So if you don't want/need torsos or legs, you could buy 5 heads, 5 hats, and 5 accessories, or any combination thereof.

Yeah but then the people at the checkout think that you're some kind of sadist.vynsane wrote: Also, an interesting thing to note: It's not necessarily 3 full minififgures, it's $10 for 15 pieces. Also heck yeah I landed one of those black fedoras.

Are black fedoras special or something? I once got several from a grab bag. I thought it would make a good gangster diorama MOC someday.legitimatealex wrote:Yeah but then the people at the checkout think that you're some kind of sadist.vynsane wrote: Also, an interesting thing to note: It's not necessarily 3 full minififgures, it's $10 for 15 pieces. Re: August 2010 Calendar (US)
They're relatively rare, as they only came in the Indiana Jones set 'Shanghai Chase'.
