The variation in the price on Amazon is simply resellers who have it for ridiculous prices that show up when Amazon themselves are out of stock. The ridiculous prices on Walmart appear to be in direct "competition" with said resellers, somehow. For instance, Amazon currently is showing it for sale by "ValleyTechToys" for $57.79 - and thus, Walmart has the price set at $57.76 (because Walmart ALWAYS HAS THE BEST PRICES (by $0.02 or $0.03) ALWAYS).

I suspect Walmart and Amazon both have some sort of price-matching algorithm that monitors the other site and adjusts their price automatically. There has to be some way to hack that and have them both price each other out until we get ALL THE LEGO for free...
