Which train is best? Maersk or 10205

Post by greanie2011 » Sun Jun 16, 2013 1:05 pm

I am in a dilemna.

I have a train engine from the Maersk train set. I collect (Will get tired of collecting them at some point and will want to sell) and sell the trains.

I have been offered a trade.

Lego Maersk Train Engine (Instructions included. NO box) ---> Lego 10205 (no box or instructions)

Cant really find a value on the Maersk engine by itself, but the 10205 in used condition is about $75 on brickpicker

Is this a good deal?
I have a Maersk train set already this was just an extra engine to make the set look cool.
Good deal? Bad Deal? Even deal?

Well it's just the engine, not the entire train set. Still a bad deal? I looked for a Maersk train engine alone and was unable to find.

Thoughts ? ? ?

If there's no instructions and no box for the 10205, I wouldn't make the trade. You probably have or can easily get hold of most of the parts for the train yourself (all black), and make cheaper substitutions when possible for non-visible parts; it looks like a pretty easy set to piece together via BrickLink. (Granted, the stickers will be hard to come by.)

Just comparing the 16 pages to make the 10205 engine versus over 50 pages for the Maersk engine (and some of the parts are unique like the blue color), would think you should get the whole 10205 set (including the box for a even trade). Personally, I would just build the 10205 myself. :)

That sounds like one of the worst trades ever.

Maersk > Everything else.
