It will be interesting to see the after-market prices on those sets, as well as the separate minfigs prices for Merry and Samwise (to complete the Fellowship).

Don't forget Legolas too. He was only available in the mine set wasn't he? The Walmart by me had a bunch of Shelob sets for $9. I hope I don't regret not buying them :)

Very few licensed sets I wouldn't regret not buying at 55% off. I think you can still make money on PoP at those prices.

Actually Legolas with be still available this summer in two different sets, the Pirate Ship Ambush set in the 2nd wave of sets and in the Mirkwood Spiders Hobbit set (in a different outfit).condor wrote:Don't forget Legolas too. I want Legolas from the video game. The one that inexplicably has elven long hair, a quiver, AND a cape all on at the same time without the universe imploding ;)
Mines of Moria isn't on that list. Is that set also getting retired? (That has Pippen, Boromir, and the awesome cave troll).
It's strange the first wave was 7 sets and 2 polys, and so far for the 2nd wave there is only 4 sets announced/confirmed (with rumors of the Tower of Orthanc, I guess making it 5).

My guess would be it has to do with the introduction of more Hobbit sets as they essentially appeal to the same Demographic.The-Daryl wrote: It's strange the first wave was 7 sets and 2 polys, and so far for the 2nd wave there is only 4 sets announced/confirmed (with rumors of the Tower of Orthanc, I guess making it 5).

Weathertop now officially retired at S@H. I think that makes just under a year from release?

I thought it would take some time for S@H to clear them out from their shelves.Marcus70 wrote:Weathertop now officially retired at S@H. I think that makes just under a year from release?
