What the heck? What about New Mexico? Sure we barely know English and most people in the US still think its a foreign country but come on... we have enough welfare money here to support a Lego store!!!!!
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
Re: New US LEGO Brand Stores coming to CT, MO, TX and UT
Considering how family friendly UT is and how crazy the TRU Lego events are, its beyond stupid we haven't gotten a store before now. We literally should have been 1 of the first 10 in the country IMO. About time they corrected this. And I couldn't be happier with the location!

What?? No Palmdale, Los Angeles and Northridge.

My sister lives in San Antonio so I could time a visit so that it was the same weekend.
So, with the minifigure sets- how quickly do those sell out? Is it like within minutes and you would have to camp out to get them or just show up within a couple of hours and it's all good?

Well given how common it is to see families with AT LEAST 6 kids here...The-Daryl wrote:Buttmunch wrote:Considering how family friendly UT is...

Lego dropped the ball on the Utah market big time! With over 32% of the population under the age of 18 (we have the youngest population of any state) they could have had a ton of success here.
Re: New US LEGO Brand Stores coming to CT, MO, TX and UT
How so? There's a rather huge mall there, and a lot of other shopping in the area. I know my wife drives there to shop at Trader Joe's all the time, and it's a 40 minute drive or so each way.simplylemonade wrote:Why Danbury CT? :S Odd choice.
Looks like another grand opening I'll be able to attend - been to the Roosevelt Field and Rockefeller Center openings previously.

Exactly! They've been beyond stupid waiting so long. I'm just thrilled we're finally getting one and one so close at that!Reevr wrote:Well given how common it is to see families with AT LEAST 6 kids here...The-Daryl wrote:Buttmunch wrote:Considering how family friendly UT is...

Re: New US LEGO Brand Stores coming to CT, MO, TX and UT
It depends on how many they're allocating per store. I've shown up right at opening time and still gotten a pack, but it meant waiting in line a couple of hours before even getting into the store. At another I went early, waited about as long but it was mostly standing still instead of doing the line shuffle, and not having to worry about whether they'd run out. And at least in my experience the people at the front of the line tend to make for more interesting conversation while you wait - a mix of AFOLs and families with a couple of kids who are really into LEGO, a good place to swap tips on local bargains and hear about LUG events. YMMV, but I've never seen them hand out numbered sets in order, so being one of the first in the door doesn't guarantee you a low number of a limited set.sterlingice wrote:So, with the minifigure sets- how quickly do those sell out? If it's something you really want, go early. Around here even at the monthly model builds the line is at least a hundred deep an hour before start time, and that's usually for a few common small pieces and instructions you could download online anyway.
Re: New US LEGO Brand Stores coming to CT, MO, TX and UT
Danbury is 2.5 hours from me, probably not worth the trip. I can't complain though as I have 3 LEGO stores within 30 minutes and another 1 hour or so away.
I do think it makes sense to open one in CT as the US Headquarters is in CT, but there is no store in CT. I was surprised the opened a store in 2012 in Peabody, MA as the Burlington, MA store is not that far from Peabody. In fact all the MA stores are fairly close to each other, I guess we are lucky.

I agree, but it's close to NYC so maybe they think the rich money will go there. I would have thought Manchester area would make more sense, TONS of shops there.

No Jacksonville, FL again.... Getting tired having to drive to O-town and deal with the Disney madness @downtown Disney. A store in JAX would rock!

There's already lots of rich money in the Danbury area. The Danbury Fair mall already has most retailers one would find in a higher end mall (e.g., Apple, Brooks Brothers, Coach) and is the fifth largest mall in New England with close to 200 stores. I've wondered before why there wasn't one already there.Brick & Blue wrote:The-Daryl wrote:I agree, but it's close to NYC so maybe they think the rich money will go there. I've lived in Utah my whole life and have never actually come across any polygamists.Brick & Blue wrote:So family friend some guys have multiple families! :)The-Daryl wrote:Buttmunch wrote:Considering how family friendly UT is...
