[Misleading] Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
DISREGARD THIS THREAD. WAL-MART ADD REFERENCED IS MISLEADING . My posting was in error. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I picked up the 9.99 bilbo set along with mirkwood set for 30 + tax, looks like online only. could also combine bilbo set with other discounted sets from the line.
oops, add the ebates 4% on top of that

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
One set has to be Riddles for the Ring. The other set can be any other Hobbit or LoTR set and it drops the price on the second set by $10. Basically, you'll pay the advertised price of any set you pick and get Riddles for the Ring for free.starfailure wrote:edit: nevermind... it appears it's not a "bundle" at all. just one set(?)

I would think the best value would be 79000 + 9471 for $23.75 + tax. That's 41% off.
A close second would be 79000 + 9472 for $42.75 + tax. That's 39% off.

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
That's how i first interpreted it, but after placing the order, i think it's really just for one set. I don't think this is a true "bundle" at all.

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
This actually looks like a pretty good deal to me, especially if you dont already have the Gandalph arrives set. It also appears that you can double up on the Riddles for an effective 50% off.

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
It's totally unclear from the website whether it's a real bundle or not. I emailed their customer service to ask them. Will post an answer when I get it.
Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
Hmm, this "bundle" actually appears to simply be one set. In other words, you pick one set to complete your bundle. The big picture of 79000 makes you think you get that PLUS another set, but really it's just one set you get.
I think we have a "stupidest sale ever" award winner.

Re: DON'T BUY!
starfailure, tensor you are right!
People don't buy this.
It is just find one set and pay ~MSRP (except for urk army and weathertop).
The initial picture of bilbo is misleading!

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
Still, Weathertop for just over $40 isn't bad.

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
It was to good of a deal for me to not get three different "bundles". The Riddles set is $9.97 on Amazon which gives me free shipping and no tax in my state (6%).
Weathertop + The Riddles. = $45.32 with tax. Weathertop is currently $42.75 on Amazon (I picked one up during the WM clearance for $45 which I'll be returning) total savings of 14% if purchased this way, or the Riddles set is essentially free.
Mirkwood Spiders + The Riddles = $29.97 + 6% tax. Mirkwood is currently $29.97 on Amazon, so The Riddles set is free or a total savings of 20.5%.
Uruk-hai Army + The Riddles = $23.75 + 6% tax. Currently $49 on Amazon, but usually only $29.99, so the Riddles set is free or a total savings of 40.5%
The CS desk at my local WM seems to be pretty easy to work with so I should be able to return the 2 extra Riddles sets and get an even bigger discount all around.

You will not receive any "Riddles" box set if you order this "what-so" bundle.beartrapper25 wrote:It was to good of a deal for me to not get three different "bundles". The Riddles set is $9.97 on Amazon which gives me free shipping and no tax in my state (6%).

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
I see. The way the entire page is set up, it really gives the impression that you're getting the Riddles set. Looks like I'll be canceling the entire thing.
Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
The page is clearly misleading, especially with the precedence of the actual bundles they had on BF. I don't think it would take much to argue with a customer service for them to send the three riddles you were expecting.beartrapper25 wrote:I see. However, I don't at all agree with your lowest comment about returning the extra riddles you thought you were going to get. That's fraudulent, my friend.

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
I'm not going to argue with WM or with you as to whether or not that returning an item that I paid for with a receipt counts as fraud.
Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
wow, certainly fooled me with the bundle concept
Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
I'm glad you guys spelled that out. I was about to order thinking this was a good deal. No wonder it didn't show up when I searched for "LEGO bundle" on their website.

Re: Wal-Mart LOTR/Hobbit bundle
Thank you for the information! I had everything in my cart ready to purchase when I saw it mentioned only one set. This is definitely the not-deal-of-the-week. Maybe we need a new forum category for not-deals-of-the-week. (Think ESPN not top 10!)
I know TRU would top that list 9 times out of 10...
