U.S. TRU BRICKTOBER RUMOURS?

Post by jsnweitzel » Thu Sep 20, 2012 6:35 am

Found the following info on another forum, I didn't see anything similar posted yet.

"My store got its Bricktober giveaway figures in today. They seem to be doing something different this year. Instead of the single magnets they've had for the last couple years, there are 4 weeks of vintage figure 5 packs.

I don't have exact details yet, but it seems that these will be more limited (stores are getting 10 or 20 of each week, don't know if any more are coming in) and I would have to assume the purchase price to get these free would be a lot higher too as these packs are in the system at $24.99."

The same thread above now has pics of the 4 sets. Free with 60$ purchase. Appear to be rather limited and a far better value than many of the recent Bricktober giveaways.

Interesting. They are similar to the vintage sets released years ago, but slightly modified so there are more females throughout the sets (the original series had 5 sets of mostly male figure with only the last being devoted to female figures).

Original set 1:

TRU set switched out the mad scientist with girl with jacket.

Original set 2:
http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=852535-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
No change for the TRU set.

Original set 3:
http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=852697-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
TRU set gets rid of the spaceman, castle fig, and soldier for the female doctor, wench and white ninja.

Original set 4:
http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=852753-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
No change for TRU set, but the blacktron fig has yellow hands!

I might get the first set, but definitely don't have the money for them all, nor do I really want them all.

The thread also says the first week's sale is rumored to be BOGO 40% off. Factoring the $25 value of the free packs and the 20% discount (let's say) two $40 sets would net you $20 each. Not bad!

I may be going out on a limb here, but I would guess 1st week of October, with sale starting on 09/30 (Sunday)
