They should be at TRU.com and brick and mortar stores a little after the official release on LEGO S@H which is supposedly in June.

Re: When will Toys R Us start selling the LOTR sets?
Toys R Us has a pretty big history of releasing sets before LEGO does due to lax company policy or stores trying to fill up their shelves when they are empty. They will probably be out earlier than that.Legobrandon wrote:They should be at TRU.com and brick and mortar stores a little after the official release on LEGO S@H which is supposedly in June.

Re: When will Toys R Us start selling the LOTR sets?
Just a note, but I did the math and the Toys R Us markups on the LOTR line are some of the worst yet:
9474 Helms Deep 23% over MSRP
9473 Mines Of Moria 25% over MSRP
9472 Weathertop 33% over MSRP
9471 Uruk-hai Army 16% over MSRP
9470 Shelob Attacks 25% over MSRP
9469 Gandalf Arrives 30% over MSRP
The maximum 'sale' Toys R Us usually does is 25% off of their price during a BOGO 1/2 off. With that high of a markup, you aren't even hitting MSRP during a sale, so it wouldn't make sense to buy from them even at that point (except for the Uruk-hai Army set).
The Monster Fighters line doesn't have that bad of a markup at TRU, so you could get a good deal on them during a sale (except the werewolf/mummy sets), but LOTR at TRU is atrocious.

TRU in North Attleboro Mass has both the LOTR and Monster Fighters (Is that officially MF...which kinda freaks me out). New City Miners as well.
anywho, I don't know the local markup, since I don't follow these sets and the MSRP.

Is that right, or was it a typo? Mines of Moria is marked up the same 20 dollars more than MSRP and only 25% more. I knew most of the sets were around 20-30% marked up over MSRP, but Weathertop is 60??mooslug wrote:9472 Weathertop 60% over MSRP
Re: When will Toys R Us start selling the LOTR sets?
Yes, that was a typo, sorry- I had the official LEGO price at $50 instead of $60 in my spreadsheet. So TRU has marked it up $20 at "only" 33% over retail :P

Yup, 33% still terrible and makes me never want to shop at TRU again, but not AS bad as a 60% mark up, lol!

Here is a comparison of TRU markup in US vs cdn msrp vs toyrus canada markup
9474 Helms Deep 159.99 usd vs $169.99 cdn vs 179.99 cdn (6% above msrp)
9473 Mines Of Moria 99.99 usd vs $99.99 cdn vs $109.99 cdn (10% above msrp)
9472 Weathertop 79.99 usd vs $74.99 cdn vs $79.99 cdn (7% above msrp)
9471 Uruk-hai Army 34.99 usd vs $39.99 cdn vs $41.99 cdn (5% above msrp)
9470 Shelob Attacks 24.99 usd vs $24.99 cdn vs $26.99 cdn (8% above msrp)
9469 Gandalf Arrives 16.99 usd vs $15.99 cdn vs $16.99 cdn (6% above msrp)
I can't believe this has happened. TRU in the US has bumped up prices even above canadian msrp for the weathertop and gandalf sets, and matched the cdn msrp for mines of moria and shelob attacks. With these prices in TRU US, there is no longer any reason for canadians to buy off the US site or store unless there are stackable discounts. Maybe the urukhai army set is the only possible purchase but thats it! and the tru markup in canada is significantly less than that of tru markup in US (obviously).

Re: When will Toys R Us start selling the LOTR sets?
^Yeah, this is pretty much why I never bothered to check out any TRU's anytime I made a trip down to the US. And that was before the release of the LotR sets, which have the biggest markups to date.
